yamahakid1 Posted August 24, 2005 Report Posted August 24, 2005 im thinkin of buying a 1987 banshee with milled head port and polish and a cool head would it be a bad idea to get it? Quote
Crath Posted August 24, 2005 Report Posted August 24, 2005 I have one, nothing to complain about but its also lighter Quote
87sheerips Posted September 1, 2005 Report Posted September 1, 2005 They bend as easy as a wet noodle. I have them I know. Other than that they are great, I like to keep the original old school look so i keep em. Quote
batoutofshell Posted September 1, 2005 Report Posted September 1, 2005 I got one too and as far as I am concerned the turning is a little different but I can live with that for the perfomance without too many mods they just seem faster. The 87's were geared different. Quote
Redlined Posted September 1, 2005 Report Posted September 1, 2005 I have always had the older ones with J-arms. And I am an old guy that started riding them when they first came out. I have an 87 now and I just converted it to a-arms, only because I wanted to get extended a-arms and I wanted to have more options, not because of any problems. I say buy it. If you find later that you want a-arms, just pony up a few bucks and install a-arms. Batoutofshell, is that true, they are geared different. I did not know that Quote
blueshee03 Posted September 2, 2005 Report Posted September 2, 2005 we been riding j arms for years now and never had any of ours bend .i'v seen more a arms that bent than i have j arms. Quote
midnite Posted September 2, 2005 Report Posted September 2, 2005 The 87 and 88 banshees had 13-42 gearing. They were also sold new with 22 inch rear tires. When yamaha switched to 20 inch rear tires, to compensate they re-geared the banshee to 14-41. Quote
