I just got word I can get my frame powdercoated for dirt cheap, only thing is I'm in a time crunch; trying to get to a race in OK on Labor Day and not even sure if I'll have my motor back together by then...

Anyway I just need some suggestions and/or pics of where I'll need it most (for desert racing-weight isn't as much an issue as reliability). I know the steering stop is getting some iron, that little fucker has bent a time or two. Steering loop, footpeg area, mebbe subframe...what else???

ben you def hit most of the major ones already...i have done all of those you listed. if i were to do a banshee again i would redo the enitre foot peg area...its rediculously retarded down there and its also weak. i have notices stress fractures in the welds on mine.. other than that im not sure where else youd gusset. might cut off some junk you dont need but i think youll be good to gowith what you listed...

Thanks loco, got it stripped last night and gonna pressure wash it today, found a bunch of cracked welds on the rear shock crossmember, hadn't seen those before...

Good thinkin.

Ben, you might want to think about putting everything back on, and using a marker to denote where to stick your gussets so you don't end up chaffing wires, if you got time.

Thanks Stan, wiring is not gonna be a factor since I'm building the harness from scratch, but I still don't want to get too crazy with the gussetting heh.

in front of the the lower steering stem bearing is the metal piece that is the steering stop. mine has bent before and it allows your wheels to turn rediculouslyt tight. like, if this happens youre gonna crash tight. so reinfor that thing a lil. and i took the time on mine to cut off the front motor mounts where they stick out through the outside of the frame. then i ground it down, and welded the holes up and ground them aout smooth. not hard or anything, i just though it looked cool. i made a post on what things to shave, might search for that if youve got the time.
