ZillaRider02 Posted August 7, 2005 Report Posted August 7, 2005 While riding today I noticed the engine starting to vibrate. Motor is obviously moving around quite a bit. I looked at the front and rear mounts along with the bottom mount, but nothing appears to be broken. Before I tear into it, which of these mounts typically goes bad first? I'm assuming the rubber in the mounts is replaceable, where is a good place to buy them from? Thanks guys.. Quote
Dunsmoor86 Posted August 7, 2005 Report Posted August 7, 2005 My motors has a good shake to it I don't worry about it. Quote
Shee-Male Posted August 8, 2005 Report Posted August 8, 2005 If it has a wicked vibration the crank may be out of true. Quote
ZillaRider02 Posted August 8, 2005 Author Report Posted August 8, 2005 The motor itself isn't vibrating, but the entire engine moves in the frame. It moves far enough you can see the chain moving with it. Also, it has broken the top pipe springs on both pipes. Quote
racer Posted August 8, 2005 Report Posted August 8, 2005 hey, an OKIE! if i were you id just start removing them one by one and playin with em a littleto see if ones shot. Quote
ZillaRider02 Posted August 9, 2005 Author Report Posted August 9, 2005 That's what I'm thinking, I'll check it out this weekend. Quote
pimpeinkc Posted August 11, 2005 Report Posted August 11, 2005 can't be good if it is moving the chain, i agree ,, start thaking it apart, it only takes a few. let us know. Quote
MILO Posted August 12, 2005 Report Posted August 12, 2005 i had about the same thing with mine. i noticed the whole motor jumping around when revving and vibrating a lot. i found that i could pry the motor up about 1/8" from the frame, most of the slop seemed to be in the rear mount. my motor mounts bushings were shot too, and i just replaced them and the bolts last week. need to put the chain and new sprockets on today and try it out. i hope that fixes it. if you don't have a press, they are a bitch to get out. i used a 13/16" socket with an extension to keep away from hitting the motor itself, and a BMFH, and a lot of pounding. those rubber bushings just bounce back so you have to try to stay on the race. on the rear one, you'll notice that the steel tubes from one mount meets the other in the middle. i cut the steel spacer tubes off flush with the motor's mounting block so i wasn't trying to push two bushings out at once, just one at a time. that really helped too. the new ones slip in pretty easily with a little grease and a little tapping with a hammer. oh, yeah, and i ordered mine from Ronnie's, but i'm sure any dealer should be able to get them. racer Posted August 12, 2005 Report Posted August 12, 2005 out of curiosity Milo: did you apply any heat to remove those rubber bushings? it seems like that may help some. but an extreme amount (ie blowtorc)h would be suicide for the case it seems. Quote
