bansheefreestyler Posted June 27, 2005 Report Posted June 27, 2005 hey guys. well i was riding on my track yesterday and my shee just quit. it will not fire but it has spark and fuel and the spark plugs have fuel on them. when i kick it over it will start then die once and thats all the kickstarter feels harder to push also and when i kick it over it pops out the right exhaust. and also it stinks when it does that. think i blew a piston or what? any help would be greatly appreciated cause i need to get it fixed cause when its fixed im bring it to my local shop and getting a yfz. so help is appreciated. thanks BFS Quote
sredish Posted June 27, 2005 Report Posted June 27, 2005 Best thing to do if it kicks over easy and no noise or grinding, run a compression check. If you think something internal could be screwed, pull the head and look at the pistons and see if they look normal. Also, drain your oil and look for coolant or something in there and also pull the stator cover and the flywheel and look for oil behind there. Quote
bansheefreestyler Posted June 27, 2005 Author Report Posted June 27, 2005 alkright man ill do that forsure. thanks a million Quote

bansheefreestyler Posted June 28, 2005 Author Report Posted June 28, 2005 ya then all i need after that is another 9000. we pulled the head off today and there was carbon on top the pistons but there still good or so it looks and the jugs arent scarteched or anything. i duno what could be the problem? it has spark and fuel but no fire? whats up with that? next time i go to the shop ill get some pics of the pistons and such to show you guys but until then can you guys try and guess whats wrong? cause i have NO CLUE. also where the oil was coming out is a hole to the right underneath the fron sprocket? is there any o-rings in there atal or anything? thanks guys. later Quote
Amstaff Posted June 28, 2005 Report Posted June 28, 2005 sounds like you blew a ring or a piston Quote
Travis's Banshee Posted June 29, 2005 Report Posted June 29, 2005 I'd start w/the basics. If you have fuel, spark and compression. The only other thing you need is air. How long since you cleaned your filter? They will plug and and run a bike so rich you'll foul plugs. W/that being said. Do you get a good clean spark? Or a poor spark? Plugs fouled? Check you carb vent lines and make sure there clear. If the carb won't vent, you won't get a good clean fuel flow. After doing a compression test. I'd run a leak down test and and eliminate that possiblity. Hope some of this helps. Quote
bansheefreestyler Posted June 29, 2005 Author Report Posted June 29, 2005 k me and my dad figure that the rings are gone and thats why it goes poof1-10 times whn you try to start it and it doesnt start the other 9 times. so i think im going to order some stock pistons off ebay for 120 and then ill be able to ride this until i get my yfz then figure if i wanna sell er or not. also whats up with that hole by the front sprocket. oil is leaking out of it and cant figure out why. like it looks solid but duno. is there an 0-ring or anything that goes in there? bansheefreestyler Posted June 30, 2005 Author Report Posted June 30, 2005 hey guys should i order new pistons and rings? i need to know so i can order them and start riding again Quote
John19 Posted June 30, 2005 Report Posted June 30, 2005 I would order new pistons while you are in there and bore/hone the cylinders. Quote
bigboybanshee Posted June 30, 2005 Report Posted June 30, 2005 Don't buy new pistons without getting the cylinders bored and make sure you buy the right pistons to fit the new bore. Don't just buy a set of pistons and throw them in there. If you're gonna take the top end apart, you might as well go through the bottom end and check out that hole you're mentioning...see what's on the other side of it. It would really suck to put a new top end on there and have something in the bottom end let go because you didn't check it out. Your choice, I'm always one to be "better safe than sorry" Quote
