watkins Posted June 24, 2005 Report Posted June 24, 2005 OK.. I am pretty new to the whole sand scene and I have a question about installing paddles. When I put my rear paddles on the bike.. the paddles on the left & right tires dont line up so it wobbles pretty bad when you push it on hard surfaces.. in the sand it seems to work fine... do the rear paddles need to line up with eachother on each tire? wayfst Posted June 24, 2005 Report Posted June 24, 2005 i line mine up. just use the splines on the hub. Quote
watkins Posted June 24, 2005 Author Report Posted June 24, 2005 Hmmm.. yeah mine dont line up is the thing.. should I deflate the tire and rotate it on the rim so it does? Quote
wayfst Posted June 24, 2005 Report Posted June 24, 2005 you almost have to remove them to turn'm. if you take the hub off and turn it to line up your pattles it's much easier. Quote
CombatTalon2 Posted June 24, 2005 Report Posted June 24, 2005 yep, thats what i did to line up my haulers. Just pull the hub on one side and line it up with the other side. make sure and put a new cotter key in as well! Quote
Bansh88 Posted June 24, 2005 Report Posted June 24, 2005 IO messed with my hubs. Still don't have it just right. I hear if you deflate to a pound or so in one tire, then gun it, it'll move it some. I think it mostly just looks better. If you have a straight paddle like a Hauler or something, i'd definitely try and match them. If all else fails, take it to a tire guy. Ducman Posted June 24, 2005 Report Posted June 24, 2005 You should be able to get them close enough by rotating the hub to a different position on the splines. I rode with my sand stars as uneven as it can be for quite a while and it created a lot of vibration at very slow 1rst gear speeds on a hard surface like pavement, but didn't noticeably affect performance in the sand in any way. I just rotated them to cut down the side to side vibration at slow speeds. Quote
Z28ROC Posted June 30, 2005 Report Posted June 30, 2005 I just lined up my new haulers yesterday. Just spin the hub, it simple. Quote
sheerider11 Posted June 30, 2005 Report Posted June 30, 2005 they don't have to be lined up but most people like them that way just turn them on the bolt patter thing then if they still wont line up then turn the hub on the axel Quote

Flamin' Fast Posted July 1, 2005 Report Posted July 1, 2005 when my paddles werent lined up i couldnt tell a differance UNTIL i started hill climbing. when i was trying to go straight the back end would slide everywhere and it made it a little harder to drive. now that they are lined up it pulls straight every time, plus it looks better.
