applpro Posted June 8, 2005 Report Posted June 8, 2005 i don't know i bought the bike 2 months ago. how long does it take for something like this to happen? 379212[/snapback] it can happen in as little as 1/2 hr or less. I took my 'shee out last winter & was too lazy to rejet it for the cold weather. Temp was at least 45 degrees cooler that what it was jetted for. Melted left piston in about 20 minutes. WAY LEAN!! sheefreak Posted June 8, 2005 Report Posted June 8, 2005 (edited) If your jetting is off, you can destroy a brand new top end in a good day of riding. Your jetting looked fine on the left side from the looks of that piston which makes me totally agree w/nyuk on the air leak theory. Edited June 8, 2005 by sheefreak Quote
macgillivary Posted June 8, 2005 Report Posted June 8, 2005 exact same thing about 2 weeks ago, hole was in the same spot too and the left cylinder looks exactly like mine my cause was i had to much compression without knowing, i had 17cc domes when i thought i had 21cc domes so was using pump fuel in a dome made for race fuel hope you didnt drive it home like i did i gotta get a new crank too piston bits f'ed up mine Quote
