97banshrider Posted April 24, 2005 Report Posted April 24, 2005 well for some reason my left cylinder will fire at idle but at a mid rpm it's stops firing. it then starts throwing fuel and oil out through my pipe. i checked to see if i have spark and when i kick it over i have spark. so somewhere after idle i'm losing it. anyone have any ideas what it might be???? NYUK Posted April 25, 2005 Report Posted April 25, 2005 try trimming the plug wires back an eighth inch. start with new plugs.may be a corroded or bad connection. Quote
ssanddemon Posted April 25, 2005 Report Posted April 25, 2005 And remember you can swap almost everthing from side to side including carbs (block the choke tube nipples). This is the easiest way I have found to pinpoint this stuff. Quote
streetshee Posted April 25, 2005 Report Posted April 25, 2005 hi,i had a similar prob and in the end was the pickup on the magneto,a bolt had vibrated out and so the pickup was loose. maybe??? seeya. Quote
NEVER SATISFIED Posted April 25, 2005 Report Posted April 25, 2005 so does it blow out cold air when you rev it up... or not as responsive as the other side... in order to find out if its an electrical problem.. switch the plug wires.. if it moves then you know its electrical.. if not i would blow out all my carbs jets ( main and the pilot) and check the needle.. i just had the same prob with my right side and it was my pilot jet. BigRed350x Posted April 25, 2005 Report Posted April 25, 2005 I had a similar problem and it turned out to be a loose connection on one of the wires that feeds into the coil. might try checking that as well as what everyone else has said. Quote
97banshrider Posted April 26, 2005 Author Report Posted April 26, 2005 well i think i found the problem. plugged pilot jet. however i found something interesting in my endeavors. since i bought this banshee it has never run like it should. well it was bored 0.20 over before i bought it. and while doing a compression test i found that i have 75-85 psi in both cylinders so i'm assuming that whoever bored it went to big on the bore. correct me if i'm wrong Quote
wayfst Posted April 26, 2005 Report Posted April 26, 2005 whatever they borded it to you are going to bore it more now. rebuild time! Quote
white trash Posted April 26, 2005 Report Posted April 26, 2005 if they over bored the piston would be slapping like crazy and probably would have blown by now. My guess is they new it needed a rebuild and just got rid of it. Quote
