prolly a 15. you might be able to pull a 16 for drags.

Dont mean to jack this post, but I have kind of the same question.

 

My banshee is a 12 port stroker, 34pj's, v-force 2's, clamp on uni's, noss head 18cc domes, Dyna ignition and FMF SST's.

 

Currently I have a 15/41 gearing. Im running 22 in RAZR 2's for extra clearance on trails.. I ride on wide open strip mine and logging roads. I occaisionly ride on trails also.

 

Would I be able to run 16/41? Would it make much difference on speed? do the 22's eat a lot of top end speed? Right now I need a 105 link chain for the 15/41. What size chain for the 16?

I was going to get the passion 12 port strocker kit and I talked to jim about gearing and he told me to run 15/38 or 16/38.

But with the set up I have now I think I will try 14/38 or 13/38

I have a set of Passion Cylinders that I am selling. they are the 12port Full drag ported. Make a reasonable offer and there yours.

I run 16/41 on 21? inch holeshots, and it pulls fine on top. Takes a long time for 6th gear to get completely wound out, but in the trails, you could just let 'er rev out in 4th or 5th and still be rolling and use 6th for flying down open roads. The stock chain will work. Just have to loosen it all the way, and kind of force it on the sprocket. It will stretch after 1 ride.

I have a lot of mods with a 4mm stroker and the 16 tooth front sprocket really wasnt going anything for me. I switched back to the 15 and im much happier with it.
