quad4me Posted April 4, 2005 Report Posted April 4, 2005 I got new pads from RMATV....they are the right ones, but are not fitting. I pushed the caliper piston back as far as i could, but seems to me that there is a tiny tiny bit that it needs to go back further. MAYBE 1 mm. The pads just seem too thick??? Any ideas? Still have parking brake assy. Haven't gotten around to removing it yet. Quote
Rare Scottish Tree Badger Posted April 4, 2005 Report Posted April 4, 2005 I just fitted the same pads in mine. ... I had no problems with fitment. Make sure you remove the lid from the master cylinder. Are you using a 'G' clamp to push the piston back? I also gently pushed the piston out using my hand on the brake pedal just to clean around the piston itself with clean brake fluid. Rare. Quote
quad4me Posted April 4, 2005 Author Report Posted April 4, 2005 i also "extended" the piston and then cleaned....used hands to push back...moves smoothly all the way until it stops....which is always at the same place. Is there a way the parking brake can hold that piston out? I loosened the jam nut and took the thing off...so the adjuster is at "0" if you will. this sucks.....someone said not long ago..."why do the simplest jobs turn out to be a pain in the ass?" Quote

zilladude Posted April 4, 2005 Report Posted April 4, 2005 Loosen the parking brake adjustment on the caliper. There is a bolt & nut on the parking lever at the caliper, loosen the nut & back the bolt out a few turns. Then push the piston back the rest of the way. Quote
y2kbanshee9187 Posted April 4, 2005 Report Posted April 4, 2005 The pads seem too thick like they are rubbing when you put them on or what? Quote
quad4me Posted April 4, 2005 Author Report Posted April 4, 2005 cannot seem to get the bolt to back out of the parking brake assy. Wants to round off inside nut before breaking loose! >>The pads are too thick...cannot even get them onto the rotor. I think the prob must be in that bolt that is in the Parking brake....but why will it not come out? YES I am turning it left=loose. grrrrrr Quote
