Yamalube from the dealership is ok. I use Maxima clutch saver 80 wt. The oil you use has to be detergent free to be used with the "wet clutch" of the banshee. I've used penzoil 10w-30 in a blaster for years without problems.

Personally, if I wanted to ride today, I'd just ride, as long as oil is on the dipstick. Waiting another day or so to find the oil you want won't hurt your 'shee.

I was wondering what kind of oil, that you are supposed to put in the gear box, weight and how much ?  just bought my Banshee and want to change all the fluids so that it will run prestine.  thanks

Oh yeah.............1500 ml (1.5 L), about 1 and 3/4 quarts

That was the problem, the last time I rode it felt like the engine wasn't delivering the power to the wheels, so I checked the oil and it was low, not even registering on the dipstick. I went to the Yamaha dealer and he sold me some yamalube 10-w30. The guy didn't seem to know much, he was more of a salesman than a mechanic. I thought that 10-w30 seemed a little lite for the gearbox, so I figured that I would seek some real knowledge before I drained and put it in. Thanks for all the great advice. I can't wait to get out riding. :D

Buy yourself some Belray 80W. You wont be dissapointed. Thats what quite a few members here seem to run, I havent had any problems yet with it either.

will TO!!!> Redline lightweight shockproff gear oil is the only way to go.. and it's made for wet clutchs. It's tacky and woun't come off moving parts in the tranny only way to go

AMSOIL 0W40 4 stroke synthetic, no friction modifiers for the clutches, flows easy - great stuff. Use it in the Banshee, Blaster and 2 Warriors with no problems at all. For quantity, if you just change the oil (drain plug), 1.6 quarts, if you remove the side cover and change clutches 1.8 quarts.
