cb67rs1
some do have teflon in the joints that hold them on, you have to melt the teflon out and knock them out, it you have a vise its easy to knock them out, and use a BFH!!
01bansheefox
Ok these things have looks like a wax pin thing holding them in and whats a BFH? How long does it take to melt them out? I dont know how long this torch will last I bought one of those blue bottles from Home Depot
Tim C
If it's the origional U-joint there is an epoxy that has to be headed with a torch to remove it. When it gets hot enough the epoxy will flow out - then beat the joint out but be careful you don't bend the ears on the driveshaft.
01bansheefox
well its the original u-joint will a little propane torch be hot enough to heat the entire thing? How long should it take? Will it just come out by itself or do i need to heat it up then try to get a little pick and hit it through?

The shit will just start squirting out when its hot enough then remove the u-joint the same way any other u-joint.
CowboyBanshee
It will look like a snake thingy from the fourth of july, comes out the top of the ear, you better step up and get a good oxy acetylene unit for this job, and your gonna wanna get plenty physical with it while it heated.....this has to be the shittiest design on earth I swear, I hate there damn things. Guest nightmare
I got mine out with a propane torch. There is regular clips holding it in there too. You probabally already knew that, but if not they are on the inside of the ears on the drive shaft. just pop them off with screwdrivers if you don't have snapring pliars. Hope that helps you out.
