well, to sum this up..this is a paper for my english class. i just need you guys to give some serious input adn possible real world solutions. i only need like 4 or 5 ppls input, if you guys could plz help me out, it would really help me. It is supposed to be a quality assurance paper where I interview ppl about a problem in the workplace, and they help me to solve it.

THe problem: I am a tech at a Ford stealership. since we lost our parts dept. manager, having parts in stock has dropped alot, and so we have to order many parts, even the common ones that we sell every day. On top of that, when we have to order them, it takes sumtimes up to 4 hrs to get delerved, which loses business to customer due to the wait. And we are still without anyone in the management position or any one in oversight of the department.

What i need u guys to do:

make up a belivable person, with an age/gender/income amount/marital status/ and education level. adn then answer a few questions, with real, belivable answers.

Questions..

1-Have you noticed any problems with the Parts dept. since we lost our past manager?

2-How often would you say these "problems" occur?

3-What would is the biggest reason that you feel we are having these problems?

4-Do you have any solutions to these problems or alternatives?

5-Do you have any other recomendations? Such as getting more ppl, more equipment, or more training to the current parts department.

If you guys could just give sum hypathetical sceanarios, it would really help with my paper. and yes, i know i cant spell or type. thanks in advance. and i only need like 4 or 5 ppl to give input. :notworthy:

Otto Zoan at your service, sir. I am a 35 year-old married man. I've have an Associates Degree from the Universal Technical Institute and factory-training from Ford on the latest OBDII diagnostics equipment.

Man am I glad you asked! It's been tough around without a Parts Manager. I think the last guy left to make more money at Jack's. Now it seems every day I have to stop what I'm doing to order parts. It's created a ripple effect through the entire place and customers are going across town to Jack's Ford to have their work done.

I'm glad I'm paid hourly instead of by the job. Still I get bored waiting on the parts to arrive so I've made friends with Ron, the Service Manager. When customers call with problems I forecast what parts I might need and get them on order before the customer gets here. It's expensive because sometimes I don't need the parts and we can't send them back, but until we get a parts manager I don't know what else to do.

Well, I gotta go work on that Taurus over there. It needs new brakes. I sure hope we have some lining around here someplace.

Dear Sirs:

My Name is Sam LaPeidis, I'm 64 years of age, and widowed. I'm on a fixed income from a retirement pension. I'm a high school graduate and former insurance agent. I rely on my car for volunteer community outreach and trips to visit my daughter 700 miles away.

I have recently noticed quite a few problems with your service and parts departments which is unfortunate since I have been a faithful customer since your dealership opened in 1983. Over this time I have come to know many of the employees there. I have had all of my Ford and Lincoln vehicles serviced there and have purchased several vehicles from your new and used car salesmen.

On September 8th 2004 I brought my car in to be serviced as usual before winter. At that time I was told by one of the employees that Mr. Bennett from the parts department had moved to another dealership due to the "streamlining" of the parts department. While I was not a personal friend of Mr. Bennett, I was concerned to hear of his departure because I felt he was a responsible person who kept a keen eye on matters involving the stock at your dealership. I was assured by the other employees that the quality of service I have come to expect over the last 22 years would not be reduced. As it turns out, this was not the case. During the winter checkup of my car, a rear brake cylinder was found to be leaking and needed replacement. Since this is not an unusual part, I was told the repairs could be done while I waited. I waited for more than 4 hours for this basic repair because the parts department did not have a brake cylinder. I place the blame for this unneccessary delay on the fact that there is no longer a parts manager to assure that these parts are on the shelf and in stock where they belong.

I wish I could end my story here but the problems have persisted. I took my car in again for it's spring checkup just 2 days ago and the water pump was found to be making a noise that would indicate it may go out. As you know I am very concerned about reliability so I authorized replacement of the water pump, all new hoses and belts and thermostat. Here again, the lower hose needed to be brought in from a supplier for a minimum 4 hour wait and the water pump was a next day order.

Unfortunately I feel that the term "service" is something that is severely lacking at your dealership and I have come to question your ability to deliver the quality service I have come to expect.

In the future I earnestly hope that you rehire Mr. Bennett or someone else who is similarly qualified to care for the simple parts that should be IN STOCK and available for immediate installation. If your budget no longer allows the expense of this additional employee, I suggest that your dealership and the one in Highland Park {which is only a 1/2 hour drive away} work together to have the standard parts that you both may need. Perhaps by each of you stocking only 1/2 of the parts that are needed on the shelf at any given time, you both may reduce the space needed and keep the employee requirements to a minimum.

I sincerely hope that you make these needed changes to keep me as a customer.

Thank You

Sam LaPeidis

I could tell you the rest of this guys life story too... just let me know ;)
