allright, now im not a cheap bastard but some of my friends are, and even thou there banshee needs a rebuild, they dont want to diss out the cash for it. So i was thinkin the other night and kinda came up with something. Now keep in mind this is for a banshee thats just been wore down over time, no piston breakage, or detonation. What if they sent out the stock head to get milled. That would bump up the compression back to stock form. There for prolonging the life of the bore. costing them very little money now. and down the road when they get money again, they can rebuild it, and already have a milled head, good idea or no? This could work for many people.

I don't think it will work.It would bump up the compression,but it would still have blow by due to the fact the cylinders are worn.I also believe this could cause piston rattle from more compession being added to the cylinders when the piston doesn't fit a tight as it should.This is just my 2 cents,so lets see what others have to say.

i agree. those were the things that first came to mind. the only way to take care of a problem is to fix it properly not bandaid it because it may cause more problems down the road. a busted piston skirt will hurt. i know that they're not trying to spend much money now but it's possible that it could cost them more in the long run, but then again it may not hurt anything either.

i dont think it will work ethier. Plus you might have to weld the crank as well or you will have a whole new set of problems.Or if im mistacken that might only need to be done when porting sorry. but will cost more money in the long run.

more problems will occur,granted you will bring the compression up.fro, what bore is it now?,i may have the next size up pistons.i got a bunch on the shelve, used but came off running bikes.that way your homie would just have to splurge for a bore and gaskets.

what about when the bores get to sloppy and the piston slap developes cracks that will eventually lead to the shattering of the piston? :(

boonman does it, hes a member of the site. got great turnaround time, and i believe he charges like fifty or sixty bucks. someone jump in and give an exact price.

I agree with the others on the blowby issue, which is why compression would be down in the first place. It would cause it to fail faster by burning a ring. If you could hone the cylincers and re-ring the pistons, assuming the bore was in tollerance, it would be as cheap as milling the stock head and be a permenant fix as long as the piston itself is in good shape. Although, if the pistons had a lot of hours or har use, I would personally buy new pistons to decrease the chance you would get a broken skirt.

ahh, fuck it! just a though i had a good idea, some work out and some dont. i took into consideration the piston slap, but figured instead of reringin he could cheap ass and get the head milled. im not sure the bore he's on nyuk, im gonna have to check, but that top ends gona be gone, pretty soon. thanks fellas

Fro, instead of looking into getting the head milled, have you looked into maybe re-ringing it and seeing what bit if life you can get out of it? :shrugani:

I was able to do this with my banshee a couple years ago because the hatch marks were still on the cylinder walls, and no gouges...If there is a gouge, there is a chance that the ring will follow it, possibly twisting it and popping it out of the groove. :(
