rjvoight Posted March 22, 2005 Report Posted March 22, 2005 Just read an article in ATV Action about the Banshee. I have got to hand it to them. They told it like it is. The praised the Banshee for the stability and the power the motor is capable of making. They said it cornerd well and in the sand the suspension was adequate. They also said it was in need of some fine tuning in the ergonomic dept. I for one would have to agree and think a lot of the others on here would agree as well (not that it is uncomfortable, but at 6' my knees do start to ache after a couple days of riding ). They said the Banshee is no longer the King, a title it held in the early 90's simply because tech. has advanced and the Banshee has not. The closed the article stating that the Banshee is still one of the best sport ATVs ever made. I was pleased to see an honest and fair write up on the old girl. RJV Quote

rjvoight Posted March 22, 2005 Author Report Posted March 22, 2005 who is the king now then? better not be some 4-poke, lol 342909[/snapback] I would have to go with the YFZ450. I am lucky enough to have friends who own everything from Honda 250X's to DS650 and I have been able to spend time on each of them. My only complaint about the YFZ450 is it feels a little cramped but you adjust quickly and the harder you ride, the less cramped it feels to me. For the sand dunes though, no matter what any magazine says, a slightly modified (pipes and tires) Banshee is still the King!!! I get tired of reading "you really have to be good with the clutch to keep a Banshee going". When I was growing up that was called "knowing how to ride" and if you could not work a clutch and shuffle the gears you simply did not know how to ride. It was never blamed on the bike. RJV Quote

Nightrider is right though, 19 or 20 years is a long fuckin run for anything to be produced with only one substantial change. Quote
