Ok...while i was at little sahara i switched over to race gas on my banshee..it is a bone stock motor besides a shaved head..well sunday i was out drag racing and my left cylinder started lean poppin really bad at high rpms like it was running out of gas...well i go back to camp and sit there and let it idle and the left side cylinder is not putting out near as much exhaust as the right one..it just sounds realllllly weak...so i kill it and pull the carbs and i had 280 jets in it..i bounced it up to 310 jets and she cranked up first kick but still popped ok...well i come home monday...i thought i might of cracked a piston or something..i pulled my left cylinder and everything looked normal...besides of there being some burnt oil on the tops of the pistons...so that wasnt the problem i put it back together last night...the only other thing i could possibly think of it being is a stator or cdi box..but why would one of those cause it to not have as much combustion..oh yeah and i switched out plugs when it first started popping and my left cylinder plug was burnt gray..no gas/oil residue on it...what do you guys think this is..

Can't be your stator or cdi if you're still good on your right cylinder. These feed your coil which fires both plug leads at the same time, twice per rev. of the crank.

Try switching over your plug wires and see if your problem swaps cylinders, which will prove a fault in the plug lead or plug cap. ... But I would have thought your left plug to be wet with oil/ fuel if this was the fault, and you say it's grey/ dry.

Are you getting corect fueling to that left cylinder? Developed an airleak??

Rare.

thanks for the info bro..but no there was not an air leak i double checked everything..and i mean when i rev it it sounds fine till it starts poppin and its just my left side like its not firing right i will finish putting it back together tonight and switch wires like you say and see if the problem moves to the right cylinder..

Have you checked your reeds / cages? A broken reed can cause one cylinder to run shitty, worth a shot to take your carb off and peek in the intakes with a flashlight... :shrugani: I don't think it's your stator or CDI...if the CDI went out I don't think it would run at all...

i dont. haha. ya i think he has spark or that left cylinder woudlnt fire

The only reason I ask is because it's easy to check, if you have spark it's probably a carburator issue, which rules out the cdi and stator 99.9999% of the time. You on the other hand freestyler your's is definately an electrical issue.

welp its not my wires/cdi/stator/or reeds...my left cylinder just lost compression..i am going to pull it apart again and go ahead and rebuild it...should i just get wiseco pistons or vito's or what...

I had a deal with mine a while back that I chased for a long while, sounds just like your problem. It ended up being an air leak from the left side crank seal. Caused when I put it in backward after welding the crank. Just something to be aware of...
