Toomey Banshee Posted March 20, 2005 Report Posted March 20, 2005 If you have oil coming out of your silencers and it smells like burnt oil then you have a blown crank seal. I just did that job on my 99 at the end of last season and it sounds like your problem. Quote

Rare Scottish Tree Badger Posted March 21, 2005 Report Posted March 21, 2005 Any other ideas? 342292[/snapback] Are you making sure that needle holding plate is going back on the right way round every time you make a change. .... The breather hole needs to be uncovered. And also your connecting hose between the two carbs. (This one I'm sure you're doing). Have you tried a 27.5 pilot or has it been a 30 throughout all your changes? Rare. Quote

I came across this thread: http://www.bansheehq.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=33173 His stator went bad, and I believe this is my problem, all the symptoms are the same. Quote
ledofthezep Posted March 21, 2005 Report Posted March 21, 2005 Well, it very well could be your stator. But there's only a couple ways to tell, check it with an OHM meter or buy a new stator & try it. An OHM meter would be the cheaper route at 1st. If you don't have one, any parts store oughta be able to hook you up, perhaps your local stealer would be willing to check it for you. I don't know the specs off the top of my head, but your bible(aka clymers manual) has the specs that it should check out to. And if the stator is bad, I would suggest Ricky Stator, mine's lasted longer than the 2 previous OEM stators I had put together. Another thing that may be worth checking is the plug cap connections, may unscrew them, clip the wires back a 1/4-1/2 inch & rescrew them on the assure a good connection. Good luck....let us know what you do/find out. Quote
neilgf Posted March 21, 2005 Report Posted March 21, 2005 With the 310mains in it what do the plugs look like after a WOT run? I still think its jetting not a stator issue Quote

If that is the problem the advanced timing will spark that octane correct? How far should I advance? I truely think I have a jetting problem. Edited March 26, 2005 by Shee K Quote
