redcell43 Posted March 8, 2005 Author Report Posted March 8, 2005 sorry forgot to add what i have now i have a proflow with a k&n with outerwares on it. Quote
kenr74 Posted March 8, 2005 Report Posted March 8, 2005 If you don't run in wet conditions I would ditch the air box. You get more airflow without it but make sure to rejet. Quote
banshdog Posted March 8, 2005 Report Posted March 8, 2005 you could just ditch the lid, that will increase air flow. depends on rider preference and riding conditions. I run an aftermarket airbox with no lid, an outerwear across the top, and a K&N filter inside. I ride trails, dunes, pretty much every where. only problem i run into is deep puddles. banshee and water dont mix well. Quote
redcell43 Posted March 8, 2005 Author Report Posted March 8, 2005 thanks i dont like getting her wet anyway but i guess i will try it. Quote
Ducman Posted March 8, 2005 Report Posted March 8, 2005 I would keep the stock airbox unless you have to get rid of it to make room for some bigger carbs or other reasons that make it necessary. It wont make a noticeable performance gain going to pods over a K&N in the stock box with the lid off. If you do go to pods then, Uni pods work geat in the dirt and can even shed off a little water flung off of the tires. Sand will stick to foam pod filters real bad though. I'd get a set of K&N's W/outerwears for the sand and Uni's for everything else. Quote
ellison445 Posted March 8, 2005 Report Posted March 8, 2005 Good point, if you run outewears on the foam you dont have to worry about sand sticking! munkenaround Posted March 8, 2005 Report Posted March 8, 2005 I would keep the box and swap the lid for a K&N powerlid. The powerlid comes with outerwear and can be bought for $90 at rocky mountain atv. I've done this and am very happy on how it filters the air before it reaches the inner filter.better safe than rebuilding your engine. Quote
banshee tuner Posted March 9, 2005 Report Posted March 9, 2005 Ditch the box I have never regreted going with the k&n pods with outerwears. Quote
Capone Posted March 9, 2005 Report Posted March 9, 2005 Ditch the box I have never regreted going with the k&n pods with outerwears. I second that, and you will notice a difference over the stock airbox I did it so there is less spots for possible airleaks, little extra power, easier to jet the carbs, and the look a hell of a lot nicer. 05bansh Posted March 11, 2005 Report Posted March 11, 2005 (edited) If you NEVER plan on riding in wet conditions, ditch the box for sure!! Ditching my airbox was the first mod I did. The engine breaths sooo much better. Just make sure to properly re jet after taking it off. Edited March 11, 2005 by 05bansh Quote
