minishee Posted March 1, 2005 Report Posted March 1, 2005 (edited) i am doing some moddign to my shee and will need to run race fuel. i was wondering if it sits does it go bad like normal gas? i am thinking of buying a drum so i will have it, but i want to know how long it will last and if it goes bad like normal gas does? also will it corode in the carbs like normal gas does when it sits over the winter? when i leave my shee sit for the winter it seems to gum up the carbs some, does this happen with race fuel, specifically vp c12? thx for the help guys. DuneRoller Posted March 1, 2005 Report Posted March 1, 2005 Maxima makes a stabilizer (as I am sure other manufacturers do). Here is a link to that. Maxima Quote
Big Blue Posted March 1, 2005 Report Posted March 1, 2005 I have had my drum of fuel since last spring and it is still good you just want to keep it sealed up and away from extreme temp changes. Quote

Big Blue Posted March 1, 2005 Report Posted March 1, 2005 It would be easier to find a local race shop to buy from or have order it, i run phillips b32 it is 110. Quote
minishee Posted March 1, 2005 Author Report Posted March 1, 2005 k, isn;t it supposed to not gum up when it sits in the carbs as bad as normal gas does? Quote
Big Blue Posted March 1, 2005 Report Posted March 1, 2005 I have no idea i always run the gas out of my carbs if it is going to set. Quote
GYTWYPT Posted March 2, 2005 Report Posted March 2, 2005 I have never had any problems with c12 going bad in the drum or in the carbs. I have been running c12 for years now, and i have let my bike set for some pretty long periods of time. Still starts up and runs so if i gums up i dont guess i would know. I run Motul that might have something to do with it also. Quote
MonkeyBoy Posted March 3, 2005 Report Posted March 3, 2005 Race gas will not gum up like pump gas. Race gas will last a year if stored in the drum. When put into gas cans (plastic) the sun causes it to break down and start losing octane points. You should use it within a month, or dump it in your truck Quote

64xracer Posted March 3, 2005 Report Posted March 3, 2005 We sell it at the place I work and its also what I run in my shee and racecar. The fuel will stay fresh as long as you keep it sealed up in the drum in your garage. We have had some C-21 in our fuel shed for 5 years and it still tests like the day we got it in. It will also stay fresh if you keep it sealed in your shop in a vp-racing fuel jug , but you should buy a jug that is dark in color, I like the blue jugs. The lighter the color the more sunlight gets into the jug causing the fuel to go bad over time. So stay away from the white jugs. Hope this helps Quote

Everythign in the drum should last fine untill i get it all burnt up. i was mainly worried about it lasting over the winter if i can;t use it all, but it will be inside of a heated garage so i think i will be ok. thx everyone Quote
