kracker2k Posted February 24, 2005 Report Posted February 24, 2005 Hi, I'm currently looking for something to get my girlfriend to start riding... I want to get her something that will hopfully get her to really enjoy riding and she has never really ridden before. Here is what I'm thinking. I want something that is a 4stroke, semi-automatic clutch and has reverse. Does not really matter what year to me but I want to get something hopefully under $1000 but could possibly go as high as $1500 if I wait until I get more money saved. Anyone know what I should be looking for to find something like this... exact years brands and models if you happen to know of some. Thanks alot guys... Quote
RNBRAD Posted February 24, 2005 Report Posted February 24, 2005 Honda 250EX is the only quad I can think of fitting those parameters. Good little quad. Quote

kracker2k Posted February 24, 2005 Author Report Posted February 24, 2005 What year did they start making the 250ex with the auto clutch? Also, whats the diff between the Sportrax 250EX and the TRX250EX? Thanks Quote

Thanks 328988[/snapback] Not sure of the differences really if any. Maybe a few updates since I believe the new 05 models are trx250ex rather than the sport trax. I believe this is correct. Though you will probably need to look for around a 2000 to 2001 model for the prices your looking for. Quote
ledofthezep Posted February 24, 2005 Report Posted February 24, 2005 Good luck man! That's cool, but don't make too big of an investment just in case... I learned the hard way. Quote
sp1tekiller Posted February 24, 2005 Report Posted February 24, 2005 All 250EX's are TRX250EX's. Same with the 400EX's. the full model name is TRX400EX. Same with the 450r, TRX450R. Quote

kracker2k Posted February 24, 2005 Author Report Posted February 24, 2005 What do you guys think about a lakota... do those have auto clutches and are they any good? how much can I expect to give for a used one? Thanks Quote

kracker2k Posted February 25, 2005 Author Report Posted February 25, 2005 I already got a banshee but I want to get something for her to start on... something simple yet fun enough to get her attention Quote
kenr74 Posted February 25, 2005 Report Posted February 25, 2005 I have my girlfriend riding a Polaris Trailboss 300. No shifting and it is a two stroke so it has decent power. She can get that thing just about anywhere. Not fast but it goes and goes. Quote
rjvoight Posted February 25, 2005 Report Posted February 25, 2005 Someone here on the BHQ just sold a Honda 250X 1300 or something like that. It has a clutch but is a great bike. Good suspension and overall ergonomics. IMO spend a half a day working with her on the clutch. An older 250X will give her a lot more growing room than a 250EX and will cost you less money. RJV Quote
