iceman Posted February 15, 2005 Report Posted February 15, 2005 I got the handelbars all put on, I washed the banshee, I used a lot of simple green, and now I started it up and when I touch the throttle it makes a puking, bogging noise from the air filter. I took it out and its not really dirty. It also snapped twice, it seemed way too loud and quick to be a backfire, and I could have sworn something shot out the exhaust, but I looked and looked and couldnt find anything. I'm guessing theres water in the carbs or something...? I don't know what to do. The radiator was smoking too. It was wet so I think it was just the water, but It might be linked. I don't know whats wrong. Quote
FIRST BANSHEE Posted February 16, 2005 Report Posted February 16, 2005 banshees and water don't mix...spray the coil and wires with non flammble brake clean, it gets rid of the water. Quote
iceman Posted February 16, 2005 Author Report Posted February 16, 2005 coil and wires...? do those affect how it runs? I thought that just had to do with the starting process. Thanks for the advice. I'll try it out tommorrow, but I'm not sure if thats the problem because it starts up and idles normally. Just when I give it gas it sounds like its puking. Quote

iceman Posted February 16, 2005 Author Report Posted February 16, 2005 yes I know how an engine works, I think I know what the problem is, I just wanted some other opinions. Quote
sheefreak Posted February 16, 2005 Report Posted February 16, 2005 It ran ok before you washed it, or is this a rebuild w/new mods? Quote
iceman Posted February 16, 2005 Author Report Posted February 16, 2005 (edited) just after the wash. I've been running it for about an hour, still no improvement. I can get some video with sound of it if that would help. I also tried to get the stator cover off, but started stripping one of the screws. They are pretty solid. So I'll have to figure that out later too. Edited February 16, 2005 by iceman Quote

y2kbanshee9187 Posted February 17, 2005 Report Posted February 17, 2005 Kind of sounds similar to what happened to mine. It was running fine. I put it in the back of my truck, drove it for about 30 min while it was like freezing rain mixed with rain and it wouldnt run right afterwords. I changed the plugs. Cleaned the carb, blew it out with compressed air. Now its better but I cant get it to idle/run right. When the choke is on it acts like its off, when the choke is off it acts like its on. Quote
iceman Posted February 17, 2005 Author Report Posted February 17, 2005 (edited) Now I have an excuse to by an impact driver, and a hammer. I didnt have them. Thanks lol. And I'll try doin all that stuff tommorrow. There was water leaking through the stator cover, and through the cylinder head, and the pipes were drooling really bad, but it seemed more watery than oily, so I think that the problem probably is water. And the dirt still didn't come off... It dissapeard while I was washing it and today it looks like someone took it mudding again. Edited February 17, 2005 by iceman Quote
GYTWYPT Posted February 17, 2005 Report Posted February 17, 2005 Ya i think you need to get that cover off and dry things out. Then you need to buy one of our stainless allen head bolt kits to replace those damn screws. Later Quote
Rattlehead Posted February 17, 2005 Report Posted February 17, 2005 I f you pull off your stator cover you will find a small gap by the sprocket. It's supposed to be a drain if water gets on your maneto. I plugged mine up cuz the same thing happened to me. If I rode it in a lot of puddles and snow it would ground out my magneto and , guess what , no power. If water is leaking in from the head then you have more problems than that. What I did was split a piece of vacuum line I had laying around right down the center so you have 2 "U" shaped pcs. Then I used blue silicone and glued them end to end so the 2 rounded parts of the 2 "u"s where glued. Then I slid it in the gap on the cover. A little more silicone and no more water getting in the stator cover. Worked for me. Good luck. Quote
iceman Posted February 20, 2005 Author Report Posted February 20, 2005 Ok I took the stator cover off and theres not much water in there, it was just a little damp. But its still not revving. Quote
02bluebanshee4u Posted February 20, 2005 Report Posted February 20, 2005 This happened to me a few times. what I did was when I started it I let it sit for a few minutes idleing. Then I reved it and it was still bogging out. So I jumped on it and (not letting the cluth out all the way) i gassed it so the engine was reving while i was riding slowly.... I let the cluth out slowly at a time. I continued doing this like 2 minutes and my bike was back! to normal. This may sound stupid to try but this worked all 3 times it did it to me. And I wash the shit out of my bike with simple green, I hate a dirty bike. Let me know if this helps. -Jeremy Quote
