97banshee350 Posted February 14, 2005 Report Posted February 14, 2005 i bought my 97 banshee about 6 months ago and and have only ridden it about 4 or 5 times and my chain snapped the last time i went rideing so i went out and bought a RK x-ring chian and and sunstar front and rear sprockets. well i put the sprockets on and put the chain on and did whatever i had to do to make it the right langth and made sure it was somwhat tight and i went rideing. well as soon as i got into the trails i reconized something that i usaually didnt hear, everytime i hit powerband i heard like a clink noise , so i kept riding slowly but nothing until i hit powerband i heard that same clink noise again. it sounded like the noise i heard when the sprocket on my old raptor was shot like the chain was skipping over my front sprocket when i got on the gas. so i figured it was that so i got home and just switched my new sunstar sprocket with my old rethal front sprocket and i went back out to see if the chain would skip over the front sprocket again and nothing. it was fine, so i was just wondering , what kind of front sprocket do you guys use or do you recomend?? KRMit Posted February 15, 2005 Report Posted February 15, 2005 I've used Primary Drive and Sunstar. The Sunstar seemed to last longer, but new they should both have the same effect. I had a big problem with my chain skipping so I got a new rear sprocket. The chain kept skipping so I changed the front sprocket. It still skipped. Turns out the chain had stretched so much it wasn't lining up right with the teeth. You may want to look at it. Quote
05bansh Posted February 15, 2005 Report Posted February 15, 2005 I run primary drive. I think for the most part there all the same. If you go with ones like renthal you are just paying for the name. Quote
Otis Posted February 15, 2005 Report Posted February 15, 2005 I've always replaced my OE sprockets with > SPROCKET SPECIALISTS < long lasting, pretty decent prices Quote
