rideblue_05 Posted February 7, 2005 Report Posted February 7, 2005 I was trying to get my flywheel off of my bike yesterday and was using a flywheel puller one of my buddies let me borrow. I screwed it in to my flywheel all the way till it bottomed out and then started turning the center bolt to pull my flywheel. Well all it did was strip the threads on the puller. Just wodering what is the best kind of puller to use and are there any tricks to doing this. I need to get my adjustable timing plate on so I can have more power! Quote
Holyman Posted February 7, 2005 Report Posted February 7, 2005 Th threads are so fine that it's easy to strip them out. Clean out the threads and get another puller and try it again. If you use a different puller other than the one that pulls on the center, you will run the risk of ruining the flywheel. Quote
DIRTBIKEZ Posted February 7, 2005 Report Posted February 7, 2005 The first puller I got off ebay stripped out fairly easily, the 2nd one I got was a Pro Motion puller that worked great but make sure you grease up the end of the screw. Quote
Yamaholic in va. Posted February 9, 2005 Report Posted February 9, 2005 [i purchased the stock puller from yamaha, and have used it at least8 times, no problem.] Quote
Lepew Posted February 9, 2005 Report Posted February 9, 2005 Try using a impact gun on the puller. I use a mtion puller with a impact and the flywheels pop right off. Quote
PUSH THE THROTTLE Posted February 9, 2005 Report Posted February 9, 2005 I stripped a cheap (under $10) one once and then replaced it with a motion pro and haven Quote
