bansheeryder_69 Posted February 7, 2005 Report Posted February 7, 2005 I want to start racing this fall but I don't have any idea on what I need to do to my quad My friend just got a zslow hundred but put a 440 kit on it and all the suspension goodies. (his dad has some deep pockets) Unfortunately I'm broke. I need to know if I should do suspension first or the motor so I can get on it. All my mods are in my sig. ANY help would be aprreciated. bansheefreestyler Posted February 7, 2005 Report Posted February 7, 2005 do you have nerfs? a kilswitch? number plates. other then that thats all you need to race that im aware of Quote
BigRed350x Posted February 7, 2005 Report Posted February 7, 2005 Some other things to think about that would help out in the power department would be... DeltaForce reeds $200 Advance Timing 4-7 Quote
Wallrat Posted February 7, 2005 Report Posted February 7, 2005 I'm the opposite of bigred(no offense intended). The Shee's no slouch when it comes to power. Unfortunately though its using suspension technology from the early 90's. A bike that handles well is a bike that's gonna win races. Unless of course your just wanting to drag. Then its more about power vs. weight. Quote

Wassup350 Posted February 7, 2005 Report Posted February 7, 2005 (edited) I race motocross my self and my first mods would be this. 1. Better front shocks, and possibly revalve rear one. 2. Pipes (need em to wake the motor up) I'd get the PTR mids or Dynoport 2:1 or FMF fatties. 3. Some better handle bars and better clutch lever. (MSR levers pull very easily and helps a lot to have an easy clutch pull. 4. Get it so your throttle pulls easier, (2into1 carbs are pricey but worth it.) 5. Better tires. 6. Wider a-arms and axle. and of course the necessities such as nerfs, tether switch, and safety gear. I would say get wider a-arms and axle first but if you have a budget problem then thats a bad route. The best way to figure out what you need is to start racing, and change shit that you would like to improve on it. Edited February 7, 2005 by Wassup350 Quote
locogato11283 Posted February 7, 2005 Report Posted February 7, 2005 suspension first, power second.. Quote
bansheeryder_69 Posted February 10, 2005 Author Report Posted February 10, 2005 I'm selling my jeep and was thinking about getting some long travel Elkas (overkill?) and then a -2 swingarm and +1 a arms to help keep the front end up and then get the wider a arms up front. I can't afford a new axle right now so do you guys know how well the stock one holds up to jumping like 60+ feet. Then I'm prolly getting a coolhead a new impellar and inline cooler to keep it running cool so it doesn't burn down. What do you guys think of this setup and what do you think it will all run pricewise I was thinking about $ 3,500. Thanks Quote
JARE77 Posted February 10, 2005 Report Posted February 10, 2005 Definatley get your suspension dialed in first cause all that power wont do shit if she aint getting to the ground. Quote
