dawgfan Posted January 25, 2005 Report Posted January 25, 2005 O.K. guys, need some more of your expert opinions. Just bought T-5's for my bone stock 2001 shee. I plan to rejet. The only other mod will be a 13 tooth front spocket to make up for my 22x11 Dirt Devils on the rear. My question is what is the best mod to do next? I figure I will have a couple hundred more bones to put into her before I have to cool it for a while (to keep the wife off my ass)!! I am trying to decide between reed valves, or possibly lightening my flywheel and a little timing advance. And of course there's always a different air box/filter combo to replace my stocker with no lid. I can't do them all right now, but will soon. So any suggestions? I kinda thought the way to go was air box/filter, then reeds, then maybe flywheel, but not sure............... Aim me in the right direction!!!!!!!1 Quote
compose2 Posted January 26, 2005 Report Posted January 26, 2005 i would say get some v-force reeds or maybe looking into a port job. those two mods will give you noticable power increase Quote
banshee tuner Posted January 27, 2005 Report Posted January 27, 2005 That 14 tooth front sprocket should be fine with the extra power you are adding. To get the most for your money port your reed cages=free, mill the head .030=35 bucks, buy a degree key=10 bucks from alba, have the flywheel lightened=40 bucks, take off excess crap from the bike=free. Wallrat Posted January 27, 2005 Report Posted January 27, 2005 Uh ya do the filter first. The stock setup is notorious for leaking. Quote
locogato11283 Posted January 27, 2005 Report Posted January 27, 2005 id shell out about 250 bucks and get vforce reeds and some type of aftermarket air filter setup. i prefer k and n myself but there are alot of better air filter setups out there than stock. this would go nicely with your t5s and you will notice an increase in performance. then later down the road id consider some porting and a noss head. ellison445 Posted January 27, 2005 Report Posted January 27, 2005 I agree, I was in the same boat. I have a 04 that I added toomey t-5, toomey 2-1 filter, no airbox, Vforce 2 reeds and it makes a HUGE difference. In about 2-3 weeks I am sending my motor over to NYUK so his boys over at grand river racing can hook me up and I will be getting a Noss head from DLnoss to finsh it off. Trust me go reeds and fillter before the port! Also if your not in a rush for reeds, look around. I got a good deal from the HQ on a second set of V-force 2 for $116 id shell out about 250 bucks and get vforce reeds and some type of aftermarket air filter setup. i prefer k and n myself but there are alot of better air filter setups out there than stock. this would go nicely with your t5s and you will notice an increase in performance. then later down the road id consider some porting and a noss head. 313092[/snapback] Quote

She still has factory pistons and rings, so I don't expect it to be to long before I need to freshen her up. But until then, I just want to stick with external mods. Give me some more details on the reed port that was mentioned above, remember I'm still a dumb rookie................ Quote
super88_banshee Posted January 27, 2005 Report Posted January 27, 2005 Clamp on filter setup!!!!! Quote
