Reliability

How reliable is a banshee??? I want one pretty badly, but I kinda want it to be premix and go. The only things i will do is put on some filters and some pipes. I want it to be reliable where I can ride ti almost any time i want. BUT, I want to be able to absoutely smoke my friends 4 strokes. One of the has a 450r, another a 400 ex, a slightly modded z400, and a few other bikes. I wanan smoke em in drags anywhere. What would you suggest to keep reliable and how reliable will it be?

Banshees can be very reliable depending on how much you build up the engine. All quads are going to require regular maintenance. With a 2 stroke that regular maintenance just includes having to redo the topend about once/year or so. Its an easy job and after the first few times you'll get it down to a 30 minute job. You can actually build a pretty fast shee without having to worry about reliability. More than enough to beat mildly modded 4 strokes. The only drawbacks to the shee are the outdated suspension, poor chain adjustment, and having to buy 2 of everything when it comes to the engine.

The banshee is real reliable if maintained properly. I have an 01 and still running stock top end and clutch (not saying they won't go tomorrow) but if you run good oil, good gas, warm it up before riding, and most important don't over rev, it will last a long time.

i will tell you this much,my son and i went riding on the beach sat. a dude pulled up on a raptor and was checking my banshee out, he said that he had thought about getting a shee before he bought his raptor but he heard they are not reliable,i told him that i ride the shit out of mine and i don't have any more trouble than 4-strokes after a short talk me and my son took off down the beach when we came back i had to help him load that craptor in his truck bacause it would not start- i had to laugh as he was driving off my 10 yr. old son told him YOU SHOULD HAVE BOUGHT A BANSHEE

also, how hard will it be to be able to ride a wheelie a logn ways?? I heard it was hard to keep it in the right rpm range. But, with some seat time, is it pretty easy to get used to rding a wheelie a long way??

The banshee is not easy to ride a wheelie on cause it's so long. It's easier with pipes but you still need constant traction.

very reliable with good maintaince and a few mods. the stock carbs don't like moisture, easily fixed with a thors removel kit. or get the trinity cv intake way better.

the coil connections are poor and it doesn't like moisture either.

 

wheelies are easy on a banshee with the right pipes, traction and gearing.
