Dr. Overkill Posted January 5, 2005 Report Posted January 5, 2005 Gang, While nosing around Alba's site, I saw a few brackets for relocating the ignition key under the seat ( http://alba.buyol.com/Group/JKF69LL86TTLU4VY.htm ). I moved my keyswitch on my old bike to the plastic by the gas tank ( http://members.cox.net/dr.overkill/banshee5.JPG ). IIRC, the wires were *just* long enough. So do these aftermarket relocators come with a pigtail to extend the wires, or can one unweave the existing wires wherever they snake around so that it reaches this, or do you have to cut-n-splice 'em yourself? Just wondering, since there's an $11 price gap between a couple of those that Alba is selling and I thought maybe the more expensive one came with an extension (probably just paying for a name and nifty machining thanx, _dennis Quote
superchicken Posted January 5, 2005 Report Posted January 5, 2005 i do beleive the more expensive is the origina, and the cheeper is a knock-off.hence the price difference.neither 1 probably comes with an extention,so you'll have to undo the harness Quote
glamisrider90 Posted January 5, 2005 Report Posted January 5, 2005 i just bought one for my shee and the wires barley reach. Quote
Yamahammer Posted January 5, 2005 Report Posted January 5, 2005 got one on mine i just cut open the wiring harness a bit to give it some slack and then re taped the harness only about 2 inches Quote
bansheeigo Posted January 5, 2005 Report Posted January 5, 2005 I installed one on mine, didn't have to cut the wires and there was more than enough wires to reach. Quote
cam2 Posted January 6, 2005 Report Posted January 6, 2005 I installed one on mine, didn't have to cut the wires and there was more than enough wires to reach. 302236[/snapback] bansheeigo, is this a pic of where it's located? i can't see the pic. is the bracket mounted to the frame where the rear of the gas tank is bolted to the frame? i think it is, and if so i'll make my own when the time comes to replace my bars and bracket. thanks.
