joshv5.0 Posted December 31, 2004 Report Posted December 31, 2004 so i just got done with rebuild new crank, pistons, had cylinders resleeved from 80 over back down to stock (other mods are in my sig). when i try to ride it it bogs and i think its due to a way rich condition. my pipes are only reaching temps of around 78 degrees, both cylinders seem to be the same temp. before the rebuild my pipes would be around 250 degrees which is why i think i am way the fuck rich. i would just rejet it but i don't have access to a jet kit right now being it newyears and everything is closed it has a 370 main jet, which i thought was pretty rich even when i was at 80 over so basiclly i am asking what you guys think. i think my problem is all in the jetting. also any ideas on what jet i should jump down to? like i said i went from a 66mm piston down to a 64 everything else is the same and i'm at sea level but i am very happy to hear her run its benn a while thanks in advance!! joshv5.0 Posted December 31, 2004 Author Report Posted December 31, 2004 also i have an adjustable timing plate. but its set at zero. should i just bump it up to 4 and see if its still rich? Quote

Wallrat Posted December 31, 2004 Report Posted December 31, 2004 Well you can do a few things even during the holiday. First how do the plugs look? If it's running rich you can block off part of the airbox or use a baggy and a rubberband if you've got a clamp on kind of setup. If blocking off the airbox tape or cardboard work well. Just work your way up from a little bit of restriction to more. You don't want to run her lean. Not gonna do you much good anyway except maybe confirm that your rich. Quote

Wallrat Posted January 1, 2005 Report Posted January 1, 2005 Haha...wow. Ok I'd really like to say that I was tired or distracted or something. But in reality I just had a total brain fart. Ya blocking off the air would obviously make it richer. Since you already tried the choke trick I guess you're S.O.L. until after the holiday. Unless you wanna drill some holes into your intake Quote
BansheeGuy_IV Posted January 1, 2005 Report Posted January 1, 2005 Since you've rebuilt an entire engine... I'm sure you've disabled all the TORS crap. I only throw it out there, just in case it was overlooked. You're probably going to need to go down 8-10 jet sizes. Just do it a little at a time. BG Quote
BansheeGuy_IV Posted January 1, 2005 Report Posted January 1, 2005 Oh and Too bad you weren't in my area. I have every jet from 250 to 500, Every pilot up to 50, and a whole slew of needles. I'm jetting right now myself. hehe BG Quote
RNBRAD Posted January 1, 2005 Report Posted January 1, 2005 Haha Wall, I was like he musta got totally wasted last night. Killed some brain cells in the banshee tuning area of the cerebellum. I always said I'd rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal lobatomy. Quote
superchicken Posted January 1, 2005 Report Posted January 1, 2005 depending on the elevation the main should be around a 310-320.ran a simular set up last year, minus the k&n's and ended up with a 300,at sea level Quote

Keep the timing at +4...make sure you raise the needles. Fmf pipes love richer needles. Quote
