05bansh Posted December 30, 2004 Report Posted December 30, 2004 I am looking into purchasing some new carbs soon. I have been leaning towards the Lectron carb. Does anyone have any experience with this carb? Also what are some other good carbs out there? And what millimeter should I go with. By the time I get my carbs I will have trinity pipes, port, timing advanced, flywheel lightned, milled head. Thanks in advance! Quote
RNBRAD Posted December 30, 2004 Report Posted December 30, 2004 With those mods I would recommend the dual Keihin 35mm PWK's IMO. They work outstanding with my shee and our mods are similiar. Quote
badcompany Posted December 31, 2004 Report Posted December 31, 2004 I run lectron carbs and love them. They are a little pricey tho. 35s seem a little big. I run 34mm Lectrons on a drag ported 350 on gas with CPI's. If you have mild porting i would go with a 28 to 30, and with more extensive porting i would go with a 32 to 34. JMO. Quote
stclark816 Posted January 1, 2005 Report Posted January 1, 2005 I got 33mm PWKs. 35's seem a little big for your setup. But Im no genious. Quote
locogato11283 Posted January 1, 2005 Report Posted January 1, 2005 id go with either 30mm pwk or 33mm pwk. 35s are gonna be too big for you and i really dont think you will need the lectrons. id say 30s or 33s. if you ever plan on doing anything else maybe go with the 33s. Quote

My brother just got a lectron for his yfz450, so I am curious to see how it runs after he installs it. I just ordered some CPI's the other day. I almost bought the Trintiy's,(thanks for all the info RNBRAD!) but I couldnt get a hold them, the line just kept ringing. Then a bunch of my friends and one of the local shops here talked me into getting the CPI's. I cant wait to get them! Quote
RNBRAD Posted January 1, 2005 Report Posted January 1, 2005 Did Trinity do you porting or are you going to have it done? When I talked to Trinity about porting my motor I told them I wanted CPI's, they told me I would be better off keeping my fmf fatties, which is what I had at the time, if I ran their porting. Maybe Brock can elaberate why but my guess is their porting performs better with certain pipes. I'm unsure but I know it's real important to match your pipe to the port work. I can't express this importance enough. Let us know how it does. Anything I can help you with let me know. Later Quote
RNBRAD Posted January 1, 2005 Report Posted January 1, 2005 Oh BTW, check with your porter for recommendations on what carbs to use. Trinity recommended the 35's for their stage 4 porting which gives the best top end horsepower. They have some dyno's of the differences from 28mm to 35mm with different styles of porting. Not sure which porting style you have though. The reason they may not have answered the phones is because some places are closed from Christmas till after New Years. That is if you tried to call them this last week. Quote
05bansh Posted January 1, 2005 Author Report Posted January 1, 2005 Yea I bet Trinity was closed when I tried to call. As for porting I havent got it done yet. I probably wont port until next winter or after that. Thank again for all your help! Quote
Oilsmoke Posted January 2, 2005 Report Posted January 2, 2005 if you are not going to Port than 28mm tm mikuni's and CPI's inframe combo are very good setup. they fit great inside the Stock intake manifold to. That is what my son ran on his 2003. Yea I bet Trinity was closed when I tried to call. As for porting I havent got it done yet. I probably wont port until next winter or after that. Thank again for all your help! 300657[/snapback] Quote
