05Special Posted December 13, 2004 Report Posted December 13, 2004 I just picked up my 05" Special Edition, its sweet, letting her break in before performing any mods, however the stock tires suck, especially since i ride a lot of sand and mud. I was thinking the 25x11x9 mud sharks, i figure the height will pick the ass end up a little more for clearance. Anybody run these tires or something simlar in size? how they perform and fit? I'll be on here a lot... lots of work to be done.......... Quote
locogato11283 Posted December 13, 2004 Report Posted December 13, 2004 25 inch tires are prolly too big. im sure youd be fine with some 20's or 22's. on a stock engine going past 20 inch tires is going to hinder some performance. youll more than likely gonna have to gear down for anytihng more than 20 inch tires. Banshee17Racing Posted December 13, 2004 Report Posted December 13, 2004 I really wouldn't go over a 22" tire. I bought my shee with Spider Tracs on it and I hated the way it handled compared to my 20" Razrs. A 22" tire will give you plenty of clearance. If you're looking for clearance, look into getting an aftermarket swingarm skid plate. They help "glide" over the rough $hit instead of grabbing like the stock skid. Quote

sredish Posted December 14, 2004 Report Posted December 14, 2004 20s or 22s will work fine. the 22s will gear you up a little, but it'll work out alright. don't go any bigger, too hard on the bearings and all the little things.... Quote
Holyman Posted December 14, 2004 Report Posted December 14, 2004 You'll need a 50 tooth rear sprocket to turn the 25's. It just aint worth it. Quote
Ducman Posted December 15, 2004 Report Posted December 15, 2004 Try letting some air out of the tires. Run them at about 3 psi. My stock tires would spin like crasy at 4.5 to 5 psi and hook up good at 3 to 3.5 like night and day. Don't go bigger than 20". 2 strokes need some wheel spin to pick up quick revs and get on the pipe in lower gears for better acceleration. 25" wheels on a banshee would look real goofy, and I doubt they would clear the stock heal guard/ floorboard. . Posted December 16, 2004 Report Posted December 16, 2004 go with 21" mudsharks if your gonna get them. They are a decent tire, do well in deep slick mud and handle decently when your going sideways. I'd recommend a taller front tire though if your gonna run a bigger rear tire. If you run mud get a rounded front tire instead of something like the front shredders, all they do is push in the mud.....I hate mine. Quote
