I beleive matched cases are the original upper and lower case halfs that were machined by Yamaha at the factory. I think I remember something scratched in them from the factory to identify the set. Can anyone verifiy that?

if your talking about port matched cases, that means they grind out the upper cases beneath your transfer ports to match the port work. port matched cases.

There are two ways cases are matched. If you look on the back of the cases on the right side you will see a hand engraved number. These numbers should match. This is a matched set of cases from the factory. Second way is port matching the bottom of the cylinders transfer port tunnels to the top of the case where the case feeds the transfers.
