Hello all, I have a 2002 with minimal mods like pipes, degree key, uni filter. The problem is when i do some hard riding the coolant spits out the tube near the radiator onto the pipes. It also sucks the coolant out of the rezzi at the rear of the machine and when it cools down the radiator needs to be filled quite a bit. How can I be going through so much coolant in a single ride????? I know this has been brought up before but im still confused. Someone stated maybe a head gasket?? Any help will be appreciated greatly............ bangheadbangheadbanghead

where can you buy engine ice? ive been wanting to get some. and how should i mix it up for winter?

you can get it at any motorcycle/atv shop.....most people just run it streight engine ice.

Head gasket will cause more problems than just spitting from the overflow. It is just getting hot, run some inline coolers with the engine ice. Does it blow white smoke out of the pipes? If its not doing anything but spitting some coolant, I wouldn't worry too much about it.

First of all thanks for the replies, and no its not blowin white smoke or anything like that. Its been running fine but all of a sudden this overheating thing just started. I do run engine ice and its jetted properly. Still dont know what to do............:angry::angry:

I just ran the bitch and the radiator warmed up all over, so I guess its not the impeller. Should I change the head gasket and relocate the water bottle. Also, it seems jetted properly but maybe ill bump up the main jet.....

No, you are not showing any signs of a blown haed gasket, I would leave that alone for now. You would know if the gasket was bad. Not to sure from what you said how you came to that conclusion on your impellar, take thee cover of and get in there to physically check out the impellar, they are plastic and damage pretty easy.

I ran into a similar problem. Turned out it was the water pump gear(plastic). It had broken into two pieces so the gear couldn't transfer motion to the the impeller, ie coolant wasn't flowing.

One way to check this might be to kick it over slowly with the impeller cover off while you have your finger holding light pressure againist the impeller. The impeller should turn in sync with motor. If it doesn't I'd check the gear.

Ok guys the saga continues..... I did notice after just a short running of the motor, not even riding it, that there was bubbling going on in the overflow tank from the top hose. I did put my nose to it and it did smell like exhaust. Maybe my mind is playing tricks, could this be????? Also someone here did mention the head gasket issue and I will take a good look at the impellar. I dont know about the bubbling issue though... More help please!!!!!!!! bangheadbangheadbanghead
