NickyPap Posted October 18, 2004 Report Posted October 18, 2004 Hey rebelbanshee thanks for the pic... Quicksand is top notch and gary from there is very helpfull. Quote
Blue Duece Posted October 18, 2004 Report Posted October 18, 2004 Why would you want a shorter swingarm? I am going to extend mine by 4 this winter to help keep the front end down on takeoffs and hillclimbs but the +4 will also give it a much meaner stance. I personally think shorter swingarms are ugly. what are the pro's and con's of a shorter swingarm? dirt hill climbs the shorter arm is better, any track condition its better, and you'll hole shot any +4 arm in any condition street dirt or sand Quote

I wasn't enjoying it to much with the stroker. Holeshots sucked. I couldn't keep the front in down while sitting on the tank taking off in second. I do run some mean ass paddles though. If you ran the right paddles you'd probably be okay. I'm over 200lbs too. I do like the minus 2 on the track, trails and technical hill climbs and all around riding and traction. I'm going to get a plus 4 for the dunes and drag races on the hills. Mrmatt was running a +3 on a stock motor and I had the -2. He was smoking almost everyone out of the hole on sand. I'm sure it'd be totally opposite on the dirt. He went back to the -2 when he got home. Quote

Listen to all you Nancy-girls... I love my -2 on the sand, don't plan on ever going back. I went from stock to -2 & dropped from 9 paddles to 8. It's frigg'n sweet! For those who will be at LS this weekend, you'll see it's not like what you'd think. Go jump a dune with an extended arm & then jump it with a shortened arm; see which ya like. It's all in what you're looking for out there I guess, for my style, just as my pipes, the -2 arm suits me well. Wish I had a QS arm, here's my -2 Burgard.(HUGE, but detailed... sorry dialup peeps) Quote

tats4life Posted October 19, 2004 Report Posted October 19, 2004 after running a -2 for awhile.............the only thing i would change it to would be a -1.......it gets a little hairy on long straights...........pulling 16/38 gearing tryin to stay out front of those damn thumpers. Quote

DUNEDEMON Posted October 19, 2004 Report Posted October 19, 2004 (edited) WTF - I'll stirr the pot I have a +4" arm and I dune the ever loving shit out of the thing, jump the shit out of it, do a little bit of hill shooting / drag racing with it too, and love it! I went from a stock length arm to the +4, never ran a shorter than stock arm, and have no desire to do so ....Keep in mind that rear suspension set up has a LOT do do with how well the arm reacts to launching and traction. Those of you who run a shorter arm and still run the stock spring are increasing the wheel rate (less leverage on the arm acting on the spring = smaller motion ratio) The oposite is true for those of you with a longer arm and the stock rear spring (decreased wheel rate due to more leverage on the spring = larger motion ratio) EDIT: Here's my +4 Edited October 19, 2004 by DUNEDEMON Quote
