stu Posted October 8, 2004 Report Posted October 8, 2004 (edited) are there 2 differnet sizes of bleed nipple that was fitted to the banshee in different years?? im mean like the j-arm, then the a-arm etc. i need new bleed nips for the front and ordered banshee ones from the stealership but they are too big for my calipers. i was wondering if they may be different on the j-arm models or something?? i really need this sorted as mx isnt the same with no brakes... it tends to hurt alot more than normal cheers stu Edited October 8, 2004 by stu Quote
stu Posted October 8, 2004 Author Report Posted October 8, 2004 ive just been checking the yamaha parts cache and i see there were 2 different calipers, one for pre 90 models and a different one for 90 onwards. for u guys with bikes from both of these year groups any chance you can check and see if the threads on the bleed nipples are different sizes??? im hoping that the pre 90 model ones will be smaller. im beginning to think/hope i may have the earlier calipers on a later year bike cheers again stu Quote
locogato11283 Posted October 8, 2004 Report Posted October 8, 2004 when they switched they prolly just used up whatever they had at the time, so you could possibly have some older style ones. Quote
brock_fuzzy_69 Posted October 8, 2004 Report Posted October 8, 2004 do we really ahve to go directly to the dealership for those???? i would imagine that any automotive parts store will ahve an assortment of those little things they prob keep thing in a big plastic organiser under the counter unless i am wrong and ours are specific for some reason Quote
stu Posted October 8, 2004 Author Report Posted October 8, 2004 ive tried bike and car garages to match it up but good ol' trusty yamaha have to make it slightly different to everyone else if anyone knows that the older style ones if the thread on them is bigger or smaller that would hopefully sort my prolems cheers for the help guys stu Quote
frocashmoney24 Posted October 8, 2004 Report Posted October 8, 2004 well, the older capilers were better, had a bigger pad= better stopping so i'd think they would use the bigger nips. i got 2 brand new ones in a box from yamaha, part numbers 550313, for the newer model i belive Quote
stu Posted October 8, 2004 Author Report Posted October 8, 2004 crazy!! i got couple of the newer nipples as i thought my calipers were the stock units for my year bike with the part number 36Y-W0048-00. im trying to find out the size of the nipples with part number 51L-W0048-00. i might just have to buy a couple of the others and try them out if i cant resolve this! cheers stu Quote
