Schizo Posted October 7, 2004 Report Posted October 7, 2004 Mine idle just fine, just turn them out counter clockwise 7 1/2 turns like Banchetta stated. I just turn mine out by clicks and i think im out about 30 clicks... Quote
United Pot Smoker Posted October 7, 2004 Author Report Posted October 7, 2004 i dunno maybe its just my ill jetting skills. but ideling the engine isnt so good. i got .02 shaved head, lightend flywheel, advanced timming +3, 2-1 cv intake with 34mm pj. im gonna keep messin with it for now. 7.5 turn seems like a lot. and you guys seem to think about 4 turns or so on the air screws? if i had a choice i would buy the pwk's but... ill figure it out eventually. about the one who is buying the 34's i heard thay dont even make them anymore they stoped in 2000 or 2001. i dont know if thats right or not. people seem to have problems with ideling them thou. FIRST BANSHEE Posted October 7, 2004 Report Posted October 7, 2004 Check duncanracing.com, they have easy to follow jetting info. sounds like your piolet jet is wrong. Good luck. Quote
Banchetta Posted October 15, 2004 Report Posted October 15, 2004 Adjust your air screws to the best throttle response and let me know how many turns out from seated they are....You should be between .5-3 turns from seated, but let me know where your shee likes the settings.. Quote
SANDSTAR Posted October 25, 2004 Report Posted October 25, 2004 The only way to get pj's to idle is to turn up the choke a bit.(the nut at the base of the choke knob) I run two 34's. They are great carbs, but the idle issue seems to be a bit of a downer. I run em' with the choke completely off. I just can't seem to get over the mental stress of running my Banshee under a slight rich condition. Yeah, I won't idle more than a couple of seconds, but my jetting is spot-on, and it runs great across the throttle. Quote
biodave27 Posted October 26, 2004 Report Posted October 26, 2004 Off topic a bit, but do you guys have much bottom end with your 34mm PJs. I bought an 88' with them on it and I think it also has the old school fmf pipes and I don't have hardly any bottom end. I assume that it has some porting due to the larger carbs, but I don't know for sure. Quote

Its a matter of jetting, porting, pipes, and the combination of it all will give you great throttle response....Tooo big of a carb w/ no porting will cause poor response, so you need to find out what you have. s_h_c Posted November 2, 2004 Report Posted November 2, 2004 I am running 2 34mm PJ's on my bike. Setting the idle was a little tricky. I had to turn them out 21 clicks. I port and polished my bike when i put the PJ's on. I did lose some bottom end, but mid range and top end are great! I have a coolhead with 19cc domes toomey T5's, +4 timing, dual K&N's. Quote

You shouldn't have to turn out your idle that much. Your pilots are way off. I'm guessing your too rich on the pilots. How does it start when cold? w/ or w/o the choke? How does it start when warm? Does the air screws like to be .5 turn out or 2 turns out? (throttle response) Quote
