sredish Posted September 30, 2004 Report Posted September 30, 2004 Hey, When I had my intake apart and checking the reeds and manifold and gaskets and all. I noticed the reeds were on the High setting. For sh*ts and giggles, I decided to put them on the Low setting. Earlier today, a bud told me that they'd be more prone to break on the Low setting and could f*ck some shit up if they break. Whats all your opinions on using the Low setting, and should I be ripping this thing back apart to put them where they were originally? Definitely don't feel like breaking reeds at the moment. Later. Indubitably Posted September 30, 2004 Report Posted September 30, 2004 Put them on the setting that they were on when you bought them they last longer. At least thats what the instructions say, I just can't remeber which setting is the good one. lol Quote
QuadMX Posted September 30, 2004 Report Posted September 30, 2004 Try Medium. That would last the longest Quote
2004LEBanshee Posted September 30, 2004 Report Posted September 30, 2004 Yeah my manual says to keep them on the high setting. Quote
knight_ripper Posted September 30, 2004 Report Posted September 30, 2004 the only reason I didnt try that on my V-s is because the instructions say ---- Dont do this if you own a banshee! That was enough for me to get it out of my mind. Specially when Im spending 2 bills. Quote
German Shepherd Posted September 30, 2004 Report Posted September 30, 2004 My carbon tech low tension (low) were for bottom end. I think that you can pick if you want low or high tension for top or bottom end. Did you drive it since you changed it? Quote
Nightrider Posted September 30, 2004 Report Posted September 30, 2004 YOU WILL COOK YOUR REEDS!Just for an example,I usually get 1 season(8 months) out of a set of reeds, needless to say I'm pretty hard on them.On the low setting I only got 3 months before they were so worn my shee wouldn't idle.I was so f-ing pissed and I too read the disclaimer, but thought I knew more than they did. it really helps out the top-end,but F-that its not worth changing the reeds that often. locogato11283 Posted October 1, 2004 Report Posted October 1, 2004 heres what i did. put one side on low and the other side on high. that way you have alot of top end and a lot of bottom end!! whoohooooo Quote
sredish Posted October 1, 2004 Author Report Posted October 1, 2004 No worries fellas. I had my intake manifold, carb and reeds out, changed back to the High setting, back in and hittin 3rd out in the field in less than a half-hour. It smoked a little at first when cold, like normal, then it cleared up. I rode for ten minutes and then it started smoking a lot when I let off the throttle and at idle, then the left side kinda let up a little and the right kept smokin. figured it was actin a little rich, i'll check it out more later. this is the first ride after replacing the domes and pulling the intake off and replacing all the gaskets. i was hoping to find something that might cause an airleak and be the cause of a 230 main in my single carb, so I was half-hoping to richen up a little.
