BansheeBoy08 Posted September 25, 2004 Report Posted September 25, 2004 ok, when ppl say" I am switching to alky" does that mean like 110 octane or sumthin, or methanol?? My dad drag races cars, and is liek the 110 octane gas considered alchohal??? I am thinkin of running race gas in my banshee, but do i need new carbs and such, or i can run the stock ones. Tanks, danny Quote
fixitrod Posted September 25, 2004 Report Posted September 25, 2004 Alky is alchohol. You can run high octane fuel with your carbs. It won't make a difference unless you are running a lot of compression though. Quote

You don't need to do anything to run your dad's 110 race fuel, and that is nothing more than regular fuel that has a much higher resistance to knock/detonation for higher compression motors. You won't really notice much difference unless you have a higher compression, and sometimes its not good to run a super high octane like 110 unless you do have higher compression, because fuel needs to match the combustion process, if you have stock compression, then the motor is not going to compress the 110 to the point that it's designed for. It's not really going to hurt the motor, but it could actually slightly hinder performance as it's not going to burn as it was designed for. Quote
BansheeBoy08 Posted September 27, 2004 Author Report Posted September 27, 2004 ok thanks sredish, you kno ur banshee shit Quote
ehall1 Posted September 28, 2004 Report Posted September 28, 2004 thats what i was thinkin. i had had some cam-2 left from my chevelle and used it for the hell of it, but i actually felt like i might of lost a couple horses. an expensive way to find out too at 5 buks a gallon Quote
sredish Posted September 29, 2004 Report Posted September 29, 2004 ok thanks sredish, you kno ur banshee shit no, not really, but with all of us as a group, we know A LOT of shit!!! But thanks, and glad to help. Quote
motohawk Posted September 30, 2004 Report Posted September 30, 2004 If you want a nice gain from fuel, use VP' ULTIMATE 2 fuel. It is designed to give any and all 2 stoke engines more power reguardless of compression ratio. I have ran all types of VP in modded bikes, and the U2 fuel is almost like adding a pipe. Not to a Banshee, but a bike like my CR 250. It is REALLY expensive. They also have ULTIMATE 4 for thumpers as well. That is some really good fuel, but they smell very bad. Quote

snowprophet1 Posted October 7, 2004 Report Posted October 7, 2004 Yeah. My brother ran the Ultimate 4 (oxygenated fuel) and the last time he used it, was months ago. You can still smell that stuff coming out of the pores of the overflow tube or something! It does make more power than regular pump gas or octane boosters, but for the money, alky seems to be more worth it. I converted my stock carbs to alky and that really makes a difference! The water temp is even cooler. Quote
racer Posted October 7, 2004 Report Posted October 7, 2004 That is some really good fuel, but they smell very bad. everyone says that about U4 but i love the smell of it. almost as much as i love the smell of burnt diesel. Quote
01bansheeke Posted October 7, 2004 Report Posted October 7, 2004 did you just say octane booster? Please tell me you don't put that shit in your shee. you see it says +7 points of octance, but its actualy(say you are running 91 octance) 91.7...hardly worth it. Quote
snowprophet1 Posted October 7, 2004 Report Posted October 7, 2004 Yeah. These kids put in their octane boosters and like you said 91+.7=91.7 . They think it is more like 91+7=98. I don't use it. Quote
squish Posted October 9, 2004 Report Posted October 9, 2004 I think this is the best set up. Well for me anyway. Half av gas and half pump with amsoil racing 2000 50:1 oil. Quote
snowprophet1 Posted October 9, 2004 Report Posted October 9, 2004 I used to run Av gas in my turbo sled until the damn arabs screwed things up on 9/11. After that nobody would sell av gas to anyone w/out a plane. I ran it 50/50 and it seemed to actually be better on gas that way. Straight av must evaporate faster or something. My plugs always had a yellow powdery look to them. Funky. Smelled good though! Quote
racer Posted October 9, 2004 Report Posted October 9, 2004 until the damn arabs screwed things up on 9/11. that sucks. i have no sympathy for those rag-head mother fuckers. im sorry for your loss, if i had the money i too would run av gas. i hate those pieces of shit. Quote
