rebelbanshee2 Posted August 23, 2004 Report Posted August 23, 2004 Ok despite how embarassing this is going to be Im going to tell the whole story....I was doing a plug chop on the Banshee...Wide open in 4th, and i Wanted to get stopped soon because they was a corner i didnt want to go around at the end of the straight. So I go to hit the kill button, pull the clutch, and drive into the brakes all at once, real nice like. Well my kill button had gotten rotated up so my thumb doesnt find it, so look down and see it reach my thumb up to hit it. Kill the engine, and clutch and brake fast. The problem is my left hand isnt on good because if rotated up to find the button, I got distracted by that and didnt get back for the braking, so when im braking hard, Im too far foreward, my hand comes off the bar because its not on good, Im way foreward then and the backend come up and around to the left before i can react. So now Im spinning sideways on my left front, knowing its going to be bad news I bail off onto my back, end up rolling onto my stomach somehow, just as the quad hits my shoulder and pumells me into the ground. After it bounces off on me I can see come down land 6 feet from me upsidesown and take off into the air cartwheeling and spinning at least 5 feet up and goes about 20ft before it finally lands nose first and and rolls 2 or 3 times bofore it lands upright 20 yards from where the skids indicate I lost it. So naturally i hop up, pull the plugs check them, put em back in I could already tell that the sterring loop was bent. I then try to kick it over to go back. The kicker just spins free...I try to find nuetral to push back since its not far, shifter wont budge...I finally wiggle it in nuetral and get it back. Back at the barn I can tell the left front is off alighnmet. I pulled the clutch cover and found the small gear behind the basket for the kicker broken in half under my shift star, explaining the kick start and shifting problems The idler gear was broke too. After looking closer my upper a arm mount is bent pushing my upper arm in and back causing alignment problems, and my brake lever got twisted to heck too, but other than that The bike is fine....thank goodness for fat bars axcaliburs and quicksand arms or else broken parts work be everywhere!! How the kicker gears broke is still a mystery...best i can tell the extream force caused the kicker shaft gear to pull into idler gear which caused it and the other gear to break somehow Oh and im fine too.....just so from head to toe, I felt every piece of my safty gear impact the ground and quad, so Im glad it was there! Im looking for a frame and the gears and lever, so if you got anything that would be sweet...Im going to spend all my 34mm carb fund on this repar which kind pisses me off....So thats it, Im still not exactly sure how it got away from me like that on a plug check , but best as I can recall thats how it happend...Just glad im fine and the bike isnt too bad for such a high speed multi axis, and multi rotation crash!
