I just got a new swingarm and carrier. everything is back on and the axle does not spin freely. it feels like there is something dragging. its just not spinning freely. I cant think of what it could be. The carrier if full of grease, everything is on and is on correctly. What am I doing wrong. This thing has been full of problems since I got it and this was the last thing I had to do to complete the restoration. Please help, I am out of ideas.

Mods are as follows:

fresh top end

Trinity 33mm single carb kit

Boysen reeds

K&N running with no lid on the airbox

it could be that....once u get everything together (if it already isnt), take it for a ride...see how it rides then bring it bak an put it bak up an see how it spins then...like everything new u might jus havta break it in

Don't quite agree with that statement. Couple of bearings and a straight shaft,.. should be spinning nicely.

Can't say with any certainty what is wrong, not very familiar with a RAD carrier, maybe it comes with some supa dupa lip seals that's creating the drag, or if it uses angular contact roller bearings, maybe the pre-load isn't quite correct. I reckon you should contact RAD and find some answers...

If you really packed in the grease it will not roll smoothly. What has higher viscosity oil or grease? Is it easier to squirt oil out of a gun or grease? If you didn't over tighten the bearings don't worry about the drag as long as you don't hear any strange noises. Once the grease works its way out of the bearings it will roll smoothly.

Well, new seals have quite a bit of drag on them. Did you lube the seals up? I torque the shit out of my axle nut..the spacer inside the carrier will hold the pressure, keeping it off the bearings so you really can't overtighten it unless you start shitting threads out. I would take the axle carrier apart and inspect the bearings. Try to rotate them by hand. Then check to makeshure your rear caliper is setup right and then check to see if the rotor's warped. I recently had my swing arm all apart, changed my brakepads, put the whole thing back together and I had a shitload of drag..so I took the caliper off and it was smooth..found out my adapter plate was bent. I got a new one and it was all good.
