OK, like banshee04lesaid, if you are loosing tranny fluid and it isnt leaking on the ground, then you are burning it, which means you have a bad seal somewhere. You need to fix that first before you get any heavier into the carbs. If you are burning tranny fluid, you are definitely not going to run right.

Also, on the carb note.. (tranny leak aside). If you are smoking out one side more than the other, you should check your carb sync. Also, if you have had your carbs apart (which you have), then maybe you mixed up your slides. You need to make sure the correct one is in the correct carb (they are not identical). If you look at the carb, on the right side just below the carb top is a sight glass, that is to sync your carbs, if the correct slide is in the correct carb, you will see a drilled out detent or hole in the slide line up with the sight glass. Both carbs must have the detent ligned up pretty close if not exactly the same in that sight glass. Once you achieve this you should see that both sides are smoking the same. BTW to adjust sync, you need to adjust the throttle cable screws in the top of your TORS, or carb caps.

Good luck

sorry about thes posts, but, the carbs oare int eh right sides, and they are synced... i will cheak tha little window thing tom, but they are going up, and down at the same time, and they look pretty god damn close

Is there anyway you can borrow some other stock carbs.

Mine was runnin like shit till i "BOrrowed" some carbs and it ran great.

A better way to check the carb sync is to stick your fingers in each carb and push the throttle. And feel which slid goes up first. You can look all you want and they may be still out of sync.

my 2 cents

Did I read correctly that you are losing tranny fluid and smoking out of the right side? And it is bogging? ALL which are signs of a crank seal failure on the right side? And you wonder why it doesn't run right? Split the cases, and fix what needs fixin. Get ya some gasket sets, and a tube of yamabond. And a clymer manual.

What airbox setup are you running? Do yo ustill have the snorkel on or something?Oh yea, if you are going to sell it, I'll come down and buy it. but it doesn't have to be that way. It is a simple fix. Something is being overlooked.

Yep, it won't run right when you burn tranny fluid.

Like Boon said, do the right work and it will run.

get the leak down detector and see how bad or if its leaking then you can see if its just the cases or the head also you can remove the radiator cap and look for bubbles, spliting the cases is not bad just takes a while to get it all out and apart. plan a day atlest and pos a weekend.even though the seal is new does not mean its good it could have got a piece of metal in it or just been old and and failed ..

I would remove the engine and what ever else you feel comfy with, and set it up for one of the pa guys to stop buy and over see or get a manual.. if you have it out and ready to go you should be able to hmmer it out in a couple hours, taking youre time and learning.have all the parts and seals there , EVERYONE, and then if you dont need it you can return it and get the money . but that is better than getting half way through and relizing you need one and the parts house is closed or the need to order it..

my personal opinion, is that if you have her split, You should replace every seal. You need to check the surfaces that are going to join with a seal, you need to make sure that any old gaskets, seals, or yamabond are completely removed and that the surface is clean and shiny. If you have to, take some fine emery cloth and clean those areas. That is the only way to make sure you will make a good seal. If you take your time and do this correctly you should not have to split your cases again.

And yes, it wont run correctly if the engine is burning trans fluid. I would spend your time worrying about the engine first and then after she is done and ready to run, then work on your carbs, Sync first, then start her up. You can then do your fine tuning on the carbs, clutch adjustment etc after she is running.

I cannot stress enough that you need to take your time and not rush through it. A rush job is a bad job.

It will be worth it in the long run.

Good luck

ya im onaa do her, hahaha....hopefully it runs right thiiiis time, is there ne thing i should look for, to see a reson why the right crank seal wouldnt be right....and when u say right crank seal, do u mean just the cases or the one on the crank shaft on the right?

did you do thge leak down yet? where wqas the leak comming from? dont go taking stuff apart unless you know where its comming from. my educated quess is that if it runs fine in the middle end of the carbs then there is something wrong with your jets. you have cheak that stuff first before you go but all new seals and gaskets and yamabond and whenm you get it bak together you still have the same problem. you would prolly be at the point of rage. i prolly would. :)
