Basicorpse Posted April 13, 2004 Report Posted April 13, 2004 One of the rear studs that holds the wheel to the hub stripped out on me today. My question is do I have to replace the entire hub or are the studs replaceable? How safe is it to ride on 3 out of 4 nuts holding the wheel to the hub? Quote
Basicorpse Posted April 13, 2004 Author Report Posted April 13, 2004 One more thing to add. I just looked on ebay and I saw a blaster hub for $10 will this fit my bike? Also if the studs are replaceable where can I find them? Quote
locogato11283 Posted April 13, 2004 Report Posted April 13, 2004 just replace the one. go to the yamaha dealership. they arent too much money. 2 or 3 bucks i think. beat out the old one with a hammer and take it in when you go. you dont want blaster hubs. they are for an 8 inch rim. i doubt they would even fit on the axle. nater006 Posted April 13, 2004 Report Posted April 13, 2004 At least with my S10 and stuff, if you need to install a new stud and it wants to be pressed in and you don't have a press... use an impact wrench. I broke 2 studs on one of my rear S10 tires the first time taking them off. Just old and brittle and rusted. Got some new ones at the auto store but didn't want to take the whole axle out to put new studs in. You can just put a couple washers in the other side, put a nut on it, and torque the nut with an impact wrench and it'll draw the stud through so its seated where it needs to be. If you're careful you should be able to do the same thing on the shee hub. Quote
94BansheeRider Posted April 13, 2004 Report Posted April 13, 2004 I stripped one of mine also. Bought a new one from the dealer. Beat the old one out and installed the new one. Make sure the splines are aligned when you put the new one in though. Quote
