there are some dunes in southern colorado, but they aren't rideable. they should open up the grand national sand monument to atv's and buggies. that place would make for some kick ass duning. it is much bigger than little sahara. I was depressed when I saw the dunes and learned that they weren't open to atv's. there are some of the finest dunes in the country and they are wasted on people that barley get into the sand.

The only rideable dunes are in northern central colorado near walden. It would be awesome if the great sand dunes were open to us. It would be the place to be. I think it used to be open, but so many people got lost and died out there that they closed it....may be urban legend though

we had heard rumors that you could ride part of the Great Sand Dunes a couple years ago, that was on public land. Took trip down there and never could find any public land. Most of the park is surrounded by a government bison ranch, never saw any bison either.

that is the u.s. government for you.

closeing the dunes up to protect the wildlife in the sand. what wildlife lives in the dunes anyway.

Beaver Sand Dunes at Beaver Ok are the only other CLOSE dunes I know of that is where I ride most of the time. A great place to ride, hard climbs (short but steep) and good trails, dosent take long to see it all though. There is some sand riding to do on the Canadian river south of Dumas Tx. I have never been there but I have been told that it is O.K. Walden and Little Sahara UT Riding areas are the only other fairly close riding areas I know of for sand. Someone pleas correct e If I am wrong
