bansheeman95 Posted March 28, 2004 Report Posted March 28, 2004 been thinking of getting one , but ive never ridden in one EVER so i dont know whats its like. Ive seen a few for around 10K which will probabaly be my budget but the suspension looks rough!!! are the long travel ones more comfortable???? Im mainly getting it to have something to do with my wife while we are out at little sahara in ok, but it the ride is too rough(no jokes please) she probably wont like it and I can barely get her on the back of my banshee as it is, I just thought maybe she would feel safer in on of those. does anyone build a good turn key these days?? got1banshee Posted March 28, 2004 Report Posted March 28, 2004 I was into sand rails before I got my shee. I am thinking about building one again with a supercharged 3800 V6 in it. Quote
Travis's Banshee Posted March 29, 2004 Report Posted March 29, 2004 Heres a pic of our hi jumper. 1835cc irs w/aluminum kingpin front. They can be rough, depends on the sand. If you've got the cash for a long travel, man go for it. For $10,000, you'll probably be limited to a mid travel. What ever you go w/though ,they are a blast. I might bring ours out to LS when we meet got1 there in april. If your around we can go for a run. Talk to Phil Jackson at Jackson Motorsports in Great Bend KS. He's built a couple of the long travels you've seen a LS, plus a bunch of others. Dune-buggy.com is another decent site to check. Heres the link to Jackson Motorsports site. http://jacksonsandcars.com/ Quote

Ducman Posted March 29, 2004 Report Posted March 29, 2004 If your wifes scared on the banshee the rail will probably be scary too. A couple weeks ago there was a guy getting some huge air in a rail, way more than I had the balls for going up the same hill face and it didn't look like he had way more travel than most any other rail. It seems like they would be a bitch to get unstuck though where as with the quad you can just pick up the rear, move it and go again, although I have never seen a rail stuck though. I think a turbo 4 cylinder rail would be the ticket! Quote
ledofthezep Posted March 29, 2004 Report Posted March 29, 2004 Here's a pic of my rail...inheritance from my dad. Feel free to check out my site for some more pics. We build all of our own rails from the ground up. Our frame builder now has his own buggy business - http://www.johnsonsbuggies.com out of El Dorato, KS. This buggy is an Invader frame, we bought it used and then rebuilt everything. Some of the specs are...1968 VW Stroker, ratio rockers, WD130 Cam, Lowgear Bus IRS tranny, Neal single-handle turning break, CNC pedals, and now 16.50 Competator paddles(not shown) It's also been repainted gun-metal gray since this pic. I plan on doing more mods in the future, going to make it a mid-travel,...basically the same ass end, but with a long-travel setup up front. It's a blast, but like the shee...can be a money pit very easily. I'll be down at LS the last weekend of April if all goes as planned. Any HQ'r that wanna ride...hit me up. Another pic of some of our group....probably getting near 60 some buggies now! Talk to Phil Jackson at Jackson Motorsports in Great Bend KS. He's built a couple of the long travels you've seen a LS, plus a bunch of others. Great guy...builds nice chit too! On our builders site, johnsonsbuggies.com there's a video of a Jackson built car if I remember correctly. Quote
