Hockey390 Posted March 7, 2004 Report Posted March 7, 2004 I had no idea what to call this topic because I wasnt sure of what to call the bolts that hold the head on. But Yamaha of Troy calls them Bolt, Studs.. ANYWAYS I removed my head for the first time, and let me tell you it wasnt easy... Overall I didnt do too bad, but 2 of the "Bolt, Studs" came out... If you are sitting down on the seat and looking directly down at the cylinder top, it is the very top left hand bolt, and the lower right hand bolt.. (If that matters) What I wanted to know, is what I have to do in order to put those back in, or get new ones or what? I have a few weeks to figure it out because boonman is going to be milling my head and lightening my flywheel , so let me know what options I have, or if someone has done this then tell me what I must do to fix the problem. Also does anyone have those acorn nuts for these bolts? I messed up 2 of my bolts and figure I will just replace them with some nice looking ones. Quote
bkabina Posted March 7, 2004 Report Posted March 7, 2004 If nothing is messed up just double nut the studs turn em in by hand then tighten them down. You could take one of the studs to any hardware store and find some that fit.Since the two studs are out already.Depending on what you find you may need a few washers to space the nuts up so they don't bottom out.You maybe able to find a kit on E-bay too. Awhile ago I thinkk someone here on the HQ was selling kits too.But that was some time ago. Quote
MotulMonsta Posted March 7, 2004 Report Posted March 7, 2004 Anti-seize compound and red locktight. You should have these on hand. They are invaluable to keeping parts together on a banshee. Quote
Hockey390 Posted March 8, 2004 Author Report Posted March 8, 2004 definitly have the red lock-tight As for the bolts, I found an auction on ebay that sells the 10 acorn nutts, but you say I might need washers? If yes, is there anyone on here that has bought one of these acorn dealies on ebay and can tell me what size they are?? Quote
