The J-arms do a nice job, but the a-arms are alot better. There stronger and you have alot more options when it comes to setting them up. If you do have the j-arm you can upgrade it to the A-arms. Meat on this site sells the kits for like $125.00. I have a 1990 the last year of the j-arm I'm going to convert when I get the $ for it and some after market a-arms. If you are just donig recreation riding and not too hard on her shee should be fine with the j-arm. If you ride hardcore then it a must. Hope this helps.

The reason they made J-arms was so that the exhaust could clear. You can also get d-arms which may be a little better. I think lonestar makes them.

They stopped in 89 I belive. Yes the J-arm frames clear the pipes alot better..but A-arm reliability more then makes up for that.

Does anybody have a picture of the kit Meat sells. I have an '87 with J arms. I have bent them twice and have several for spares and have staightened a couple. It sure is a pain! I have seen some retro fit kits that look like shit. I would be interested in converting to a arms with a solid kit. ;) Let me know.
