just rebuilt my 250r with a milled head from another bike, dont know if its fromthe same year, but i took it out the other day and it began to smoke slightly from the screw, is it just the gasket or do i have a bigger prob

is it running ok?? are those things water cooled?? if so, does it seem to be sucking antifreeze? if so it might be burning it. maybe that could be causing your problem. maybe the head is cracked. did you inspect it before you put it on? just some random ideas.

bought the head, but was told it was good, it was from a shop, then bike runs real good, when we put on the head gasket on not all the holes lined up so i wasnt sure if it was the right gasket, anyone know if this affects anything

If the head gasket isn't proper, it could very well be leaking coolant, and/or seeping some compressed gasses out as well. I would maybe do a leakdown on it to find out what's up. SOmetimes gaskets aren't perfect, but they usually work.. Did you torque it down properly?
