Hiram Posted February 27, 2004 Report Posted February 27, 2004 looking for some advise before I buy a set of rear tires, I mostly ride on gravel roads. Should I stay 20" or go down to 18" and which brand and style would not wieght/slow down the bike too much, so I will defently stay with 4ply instead of 6 ply for wieght reduction. I was looking at Holeshot, Rarz's, Kenda Claws, or Turf tammers need some opinions so feel free to speak your mind and experiences with any of the mentioned. Quote
checkster Posted February 27, 2004 Report Posted February 27, 2004 I love my Razrs. Got 20", 4 ply. They were cheap and hook up awesome on dirt. Just my 2 cents check Quote
ledofthezep Posted February 27, 2004 Report Posted February 27, 2004 Out of the brands you mentioned, I can only speak for the razrs. Turf tamers work great on hardpack soil, MX conditions. I have the 6ply razrs and they're awesome, hook up great & have worn better than any other tires I've ever had. They've worn much better than the holeshots on my EX for sure. I've heard nothing but good things about the kenda claws either. I'd say go with a 20" just for the little extra clearance, but that's up to you. Quote
lfmer20 Posted February 27, 2004 Report Posted February 27, 2004 I have the 20" kenda klaws on mine and I love them. They are 6ply though. Quote
ledofthezep Posted February 27, 2004 Report Posted February 27, 2004 Anyone know the relative weight difference between 2, 4, & 6 ply? I wouldn't think it'd make a whole hell of a lot of difference. Quote
99screaminshee Posted February 27, 2004 Report Posted February 27, 2004 go wit the turf tamers u will not be dissapointed i love the only thing ill run they r great i almost all conditions dont run them flat though thats bad for em beadlocks and turf tamers great combo razrs r good too they wear quick tamers r like steel they wear foever Quote
rebelbanshee2 Posted February 27, 2004 Report Posted February 27, 2004 for gravel roads i would go with the holeshots. they do very well in loose stuff like that. I imagine the razrs would too, but i have never tried them. The tamers dont do as well in looser stuff as they do in harder terrain Quote
sredish Posted February 27, 2004 Report Posted February 27, 2004 razrs hook up on the hard stuff/mx stuff as well as tamers or hshots, and hook up equally well on the loose stuff. great all around tire. for fronts, i like the maxxis front pro, great handling tire. Quote
superchicken Posted February 27, 2004 Report Posted February 27, 2004 ive sworn by turf tamers on every quad ive had.they hook up great on just about every thing but sand.and they are a little cheaper if you have to buy new ones cause of a ocasional sharp rock or tree root. Quote
