on the back side it has the metal part that angles back, i guess it prevents it fom openning too much.. will that hinder performance. i ported them and have the carbon fiber reeds, im just wondering if that will affect it any??? i dont have the small metal piece that comes with aftermarket reeds, or should i cut the stock ones down???

get rid of the stock cages altogether and get you some vforce reeds. you won't be sorry. some people think they are pricey, but everyone that has them would buy them all over again.

If they're the FMF Rad valves, their the same as a ported stock cage. Thats what FMF did for a long time, and thats why they quit making them, 'cause people caught on. I'm not saying their bad, they're just modified/ported stock cages with fmf reeds and a red/orange box.

Definitly port your stock cages, for the money it is a great power gain. It's free and some people claim it adds 2 hp. I know that I could feel the difference and I have boyesen reeds, the tdr reeds are the best for stock ported cages.

Demsy, You should not take the reed stops off. They help high speed rebound on the reeds. But take and cut off the end with a hack saw just above the big hole. Then bend them out till they just scrape the top and bottem going in. Porting the reed cages is one of the simplest mods and cheep.

By the way there is a nother set of reed cages out there that look real good. They are called G3 by Dir1. Suposed to move more air the anyone else. The long narrow peddles is a good idea. I havn't bought any but still look good.
