PyRo_ZaCh Posted February 3, 2004 Report Posted February 3, 2004 right now i have 2 sets of gold rears and a beaten set of gold fronts, and i'm buying a set of silver ones off my friend soon, so i plan on taking one set of rear golds and the new silver ones and just spray painting them both silver...for your idea tho, go to wall mart or somthing and look for auto paint stripper, we did a bmx frame with it and it worked great, so it should take the gold off i'm not sure but you might have to put a clear coat on to keep them from rusting then Quote
Dextreme Posted February 3, 2004 Report Posted February 3, 2004 I personally haven't tried this on rims, but EasyOff oven cleaner in the Yellow can will remove anodizing. (I am not sure if the rims are clearcoated though.) Easy off will also turn the alum greyish black, so you would then have to then buff and maybe even wet sand em back to a shine. I have used easyoff to remove the anodizing off of lot of alum R/C parts, so it should work. Quote

Spray it on thick and let it sit for 10 minutes and then use a 3M pad and most of it will wipe right off. It will be dull aluminum finish. If you want them polished, it's still gonna be lots of work. But the oven cleaner will take the gold off. Quote
