jgeddes Posted January 21, 2004 Report Posted January 21, 2004 It looks like I got a ball bearing in my motor somehow. I've got tons of perfectly round dents on my left piston and on the dome. I never had a loss of power, I have no idea when it happened, or how long it's been like that. I pulled the head just to put higher compression domes on it. I put it back together and rode it anyway. And it's never been faster thanks to the new 19cc domes and 110 octane fuel. My biggest concern is where the bb came from, and where it is now. I hopeing I blew it out the tailpipe. Someone sugested that I may have a bearing in the crank going out, and that's where it came from, but I don't think there's bearings that small in the crank. Here's the pictures More pictures at sudweeks.net/banshee Should I be worried about this? Do I need to tare it down and rebuild? Replace barrings on the crank? The bike is 12 years old. Thanks. -Josh Quote
Leadfoot350 Posted January 21, 2004 Report Posted January 21, 2004 How does your spark plug look? Quote
ruff_rida69 Posted January 21, 2004 Report Posted January 21, 2004 my shee did the same thing about a week ago, but it just had dents all in the piston and the dome, it looked a little worse then yours, plus i had 2 deep scratch's in my left piston, I have no clue what cause mine I have checked everything and can't find anything wrong, so I'm just open'in the bottom end and cleaning it out and replacing the crank bearings and getting new clylinders, pistons, and a new stock head, and im gonna pray to god it doesn't happen again. frocashmoney24 Posted January 21, 2004 Report Posted January 21, 2004 im trying to think what kinda bearings are that small that are inside the engine, not crank. not tranny, not needle bearings on the pistons...maybe someone took off your spark plug and dropped a bb in there? Quote
jgeddes Posted January 21, 2004 Author Report Posted January 21, 2004 The spark plug looked fine. But I change plugs fairly often, I may have had dents on one plug and didn't notice it. It's been a few years since the last time the head has been off, so there's no telling when the bb got in there. I'll probably just tear into it on my spring break and rebuild it. Thanks Quote
