t3racing Posted January 11, 2004 Report Posted January 11, 2004 my shee is hard to start when it sits for awhile i can kick it over and over and it justy wount start what do u think is the problem Quote
Wallrat Posted January 11, 2004 Report Posted January 11, 2004 Uh...need some more info. Hard starting is usually due to one or more of the following: Old gas, no gas, clogged fuel line, low compression, weak spark, wrong jetting, choke problems, kill switch, mice living in your pipes... Start with the easy stuff. Remember that factory jetting only covers a stock banshee down to 60 degrees. Below that you'll have to rejet. Also if you did any mods and didn't rejet you'll be having problems. Is this a new thing or did it just start? If it just started then what did you do beforehand? Did the temperature drop? How do the plugs look? How's the compression? You'll have to do some homework before we can give you a better answer. Quote
t3racing Posted January 11, 2004 Author Report Posted January 11, 2004 WALLRAT it has been doing it eversine i piped it these are the thing i have done cpi k&t head with 18 domes ported and it is pushing 150 pounds of compression and on the carbs im still running the stock carbs with k&Ns with 300 mains and have not moved anything elts what do u think! Wallrat Posted January 11, 2004 Report Posted January 11, 2004 If you just piped it then its probably a jetting issue. Also if the gas has been sitting in there awhile it could be that too. Check the plugs to see how the jetting looks. Replace them while you're at it. If the gas is old its probably varnished. Drain the tank, clean the carbs, and add some new gas. Have you tried bump starting it by having a buddy tow ya? Just wondering if you've gotten it running at all. If you've had it running, how did it run? Also you should probably post your elevation and temperature. Quote
t3racing Posted January 11, 2004 Author Report Posted January 11, 2004 runs great when i get it running and after if worms up it will strt first or second kick i live in utah dont know what the elevation is it is cold but it even dose it when it is warm in the summer do u think i need to do something with the pilot jet or what do u think Quote
Oilsmoke Posted January 12, 2004 Report Posted January 12, 2004 TR3 you live at 4400 Apox. It's be very cold with could play a part too. Your rings will need to take a seat too. How old is that Gas, Fresh may help. Wallrat his machine does run pretty good. jetting close too, Plugs nice color, Quote
Wallrat Posted January 12, 2004 Report Posted January 12, 2004 Hmm...maybe boonman or somebody else might be able to help more with this. If I remember correctly the choke is actually like a fuel bypass on the stock carbs. Maybe they're plugged up. I'd ask one of the other guys but that's all I can think of that would give you those symptoms. Quote
Aussie Quad Racer Posted January 12, 2004 Report Posted January 12, 2004 you didnt get the float bowls mixed up when you rejetted? if you do the choke wont work. I would suggest that is most likely your problem Quote
blk02banshee Posted January 12, 2004 Report Posted January 12, 2004 you didnt get the float bowls mixed up when you rejetted? if you do the choke wont work. I would suggest that is most likely your problem YEah, what he said. If you find it's not that, or nothing clogged, try going up on the pilot. The pilot should'nt be the problem, though, because of your elevation. Maybe you can turn the airscrews in a little. Quote
